This forum seems really friendly. Maybe because everybody’s delirious from excitement due to this game being made.
All I can say from learning about this game is. Holy crap!
This looks and sounds sooooo good I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the tool bar in the demo clip. 10 freakin’ skills!? plus 2 mouse? Oh my god I almost lost my shit. :rolleyes: lol
The atmosphere looks awesome. The reinforcing emphasis on how good loot will be makes me tingle. The animation and action looks unbelievable. So if they do anywhere near well on the skill/levelling side of things, it will no doubt be the best ARPG of all time.
Moving the camera? Genius way they have done it. Other people have done it but the way they did it looks better/easier/more convenient.
Love the look of the tool bar and layout of everything (just needs a touch up on texture tho, just look more polished/modern)
The monsters look great and the whole scenery is exactly what these types of game needs. The real darkness distant from the player creates the perfect atmosphere for a sense of evil. Love it.
I even love the Grim Dawn logo. Reminds me of Evil Dead. Those movies were awesome.
I only just heard about this game today, while looking up games similar to Diablo 3. I’m getting bored of it and PoE just demands too much time and research. So I’m VERY glad I stumbled upon this gem of a potentially epic game.
Looks good Crate, keep up the good work. I just hope you don’t change major things like the TOOL BAR or how skills work or anything just before release (like Diablo. That’s why it was such a lot down). The playability looks awesome NOW.
I’m purchasing the Loyalty Edition pack (because I want the expansion for free lol) in the hope you guys release a game I want. lol
Just one thing… I hope the movement is instant in Grim Dawn as opposed to Titan Quest where there is a speed up to full movement. It’s very annoying in combat.
And the skills are just press to use at wherever the cursor is. Having to press the skill then click the mouse is a game breaker for me.
Your first point is being discussed here. I’m not sure if there’s any direct input from the devs on it. Although the devs did state several times that GD feels better in terms of both responsiveness and movement. Here’s a quote by subshape;
And one by medierra (same thread);
And this was way back in 2010. It can only have gotten better since than.
Your second point has been discussed as well, not sure what the dev input on that was.
Regarding your first point you might be interested in this recent discussion: [thread=6096]Titan Quest: Lack of Visceral Combat and Mouse Movement - Does GD Still Have This?[/thread].
You second point was sort of addressed in [post=52713]Activating hotbar skills[/post].
lol Thanks. Yea hella excited I can’t believe my eyes/ears/brain and am so happy I stumbled into this marvel of a game.
The community here seems really friendly and excited too. Not to mention supportive of Crate, patiently waiting, some years, for this game to grow into the epic ARPG we are all hoping for.
Hybrid characters with a dark setting and lots of skills on the hot-bar and open world innovation with non-linier quests and exciting loot with crafting/scavenging, all on top of a fast-paced combat systems?
It’s really great when everyone is hyping together with you and you can come in contact with alot of the “main” developers and they might give you feedback if you have an idea you want implemented. It’s great really
