Been working on getting the main menu into shape. Figured I’d share a screenshot of it with you guys to see what you thought so far.
Work on the Occult mastery also continues. I’m hoping the first 3 masteries will be done by July. I have a 4th started, so I think there is a very good chance I can have that done by Aug or Sept.
This is really great work medierra!! Probably one of the best menus I have ever seen (at least from static point of view at the screenshot, hehe)!! It has this dark feeling in it, I really like it! =) I hope the windmill will rotate! =)
Also, great news about the masteries! Will you introduce details on them then or just wait for all of them to be finished to release some specific info? =)
Until the masteries are fairly finalized, I don’t like to release too much info as they tend to keep changing over time until they finally solidify into a final product.
The menu has an actual level behind it with wandering enemies, weather, etc.

Really nice to hear that! changing weather on menu? this won’t be as boring anymore.
About the menu, here some critics:
-i figure you still trying to find some good free font type, but the font is pretty mediocre.
-same goes to button. look too solid and clean.
-emm i don’t know how the title will look like when animated but static look a bit boring.
still all the comments emerge because of the static image. maybe when in video it will look good. with glare or shine on the button, shadows or what not on the text it will look good maybe.
above all else, this is great to see the game shaping up! great works guys!
The pic looks great, perhaps the red/yellow in Grim Dawn could animate like a fire? Also, if metal is so precious, why are the windmill blades made of metal & not wood?
That does sound awesome!
The more I think about it the more awesomerer that menu becomes.
And then saying how the level behind the options is not static, awesome!!! Was hoping for that when i first saw the picture.
Only reason i’m not giving 10/10 is maybe because of the title and options buttons. They look okay but (like others have commented already) something is missing. I wouldnt mind if this is the final version, but always nice to be suprised at final release.
i specificly like the coffins in the front of the picture.
quick question: Is that a closed book with a cross lying on top that wood pile on the lower left corner? Just wondering because it reminded me of another (retarded) discussion i read on a different forum from a ‘well-known’ game developper. (Some of its fans that are here also prolly know who and what i’m talking about :p)
Once again… Crate caters to it’s fans!!! (unlike most gaming companies do)
Keep it up.
Is it possible to have the zombie explode/catch on fire/gib/ect if you click on them? I know it’s the menu, but that would make it a REALLY cool main menu
For the fans, small hint here at when the earliest alpha can be releaed apparantly (not saying it will start then, but now we now alpha wont come before september at earliest) ^^
Oh yeah and ehm… ‘survival mode’?? Plz dont tease! Something like hardcore mode perhaps?
Love the fact that this game will have an animated scene behind the menu. I am so looking forward to it! Imagine the pain you would feel if the menu-hero killed a monster that dropped some stellar loot. That would be quite a tease!
On the font front, I really think ANYTHING that you put font-money towards that enhances gameplay will be far sweeter than actually shelling out money for a font. After a few hours with Grim Dawn, I am sure we will all think that whatever font you end up with is the BEST font EVAR!
survival mode could be hardcore mode, but maybe it could be your stuck somewhere and have to fight off endless waves of monsters, and see how long you last? or maybe some other challenges?
but nice to know that custom games will be support from the outset
but I do like the menu, but yeah would like to see your character (last played) there too, maybe with some basic stats, like level, but I think the menu is great, its a pity that there won’t be a alpha anytime soon it seems, but oh well, the more time you pump into it, the better it will be
New screen, new day to get even more pumped up once again for the game.
I once earlier suggested how survival mode could be fun, at least for ME. So to sum up my idea:
You can choose any character you have created.
No experience rewarded for killing monsters.
After each wave, spawn chest sized properly in conjunction to the difficulty of passed wave. Start from small chests and end up with majestic ones.
Make even medium chest size waves very challenging so you truly have to fight for your epic lootz later on. It shouldn’t be walk in a park to get your hands on the majestic chests this way!
Monster and loot levels should be of appropriate levels with chosen character.
This could be a fun and different way to obtain your loots. Also it would block you to ignore the game itself and use this system only to gear yourself up or just to have some fun when you can’t be arsed to do a boss run for gear.
Very nice looking medierra. Gives off a good atmosphere so you get into the mood for the game. If it is animated it will be even better. Hach I am really looking forward to the alpha.
Survival mode: Wasnt that hinted before. Like some are where you fight off hordes of enemies to test out builds etc? would be nice if it would go with some small objektives, etc. Like you can buy a few healpots after a wave and new items etc. Maybe give out quests to protect someone during a wave etc etc. The possibilities are endless and I am sure you will please us in every possible way.
