Making a Build?

I meant class-wise; instead of Occultist :stuck_out_tongue:

Well that’s hard to say. It comes down to preference and what your goal is. Obviously you intend on Arcanist being your main then. It can really go good with all the masteries. You will want to choose based on what passives/skills you feel will best support your Arcanist build.

If you feel you want more health/defensive resists and such, go Soldier. More heals and other minor passives, Nightblade.

It would be best to browse thru GrimCalc and look at your options closely and then make a decision.

I think I could make it work using Shaman. Still go with Elemental. Idk, something along the lines of this: http://grimcalc.com/build/1008-X3yDTz
The numbers aren’t final though. I jsut wasn’t sure how many to put where. But the ones with the most are my focuses. Or I can try to make it work with Occultist and go Summon Familiar, Curse of Frailty, and Blood of Dreeg. And if there’s enough points maybe Summon Hellhound.

Also, I like how people say you can’t make a bad build yet instantly tell me to make a new character once I say I went Arcanist/Occultist lol.

Because as some people pointed out, these masteries are probably not going to give you the best tools for the playstyle you want.

It also only takes an hour or so to get to level ~15 in this game, so starting over is just easier.

You could have just said something along the lines of “I want a caster-type that does elemental damage”, as I pointed out in my post about deciding the basics of your build, and people would be able to give you more detailed advice. Such a build would favor a caster weapon/offhand setup, so you’re looking at moderate spirit requirements, and depending on your choice of nukes (Panetti’s, based on your build) people would likely recommend stacking physique and resistances - a healthy amount of physique would definitely help with your survivability and gear options.
There are a lot of roads you can go from there.
Shaman and Occultist each have their own pros and cons for such a build.

It would but I’m playing with a friend that likes to explore and take his time (which is totally fine), but not very conducive to starting over. I can use the GD Defiler to respec if needed. I’m just deciding which way I want to go. If I want to go with Occultist or Shaman.

EDIT: Yeah that is what I’m looking for. I’ll make a post in the classes section. I got my questions answered here. Thanks for your help!

Okay I should explain something for you that the game doesn’t really explain.
When an ability just buffs you (as opposed to it dealing damage), any “X ___ Damage” applies on your % weapon damage.
So for example, Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange is just an activated buff to your character. Notice it says “X Elemental Damage”, and Overload says “X Burn Damage” or “X Frostburn Damage” or “X Electrocute Damage”.
These apply on your % weapon damage. Your standard attacks, for example, deal 100% weapon damage.
Panetti’s Replicating Missle, on the other hand, deals NO % weapon damage, so you’re not getting the full potential of Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange.

For a Druid, here are all the “buff” skills that simply add to your % weapon damage:
Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange
Overload
Reckless Power
Star Pact
Fabric of Reality
Brute Force
Blood Pact
Stormcaller’s Pact
Storm Touched

Just keep in mind that those won’t apply (the damage part won’t, at least) on Panetti’s Replicating Missle, which is your main source of damage.

Omg thank you! That’s HUGE! I can remove that completely from my build then. Thank you! Yeah it doesn’t explain that sadly. I’m sure it’s in a tooltip somewhere in the character menu if I moused over it.
