I had a very interesting idea this morning, i was thinking about diablo 2 and how cool it was to have access to so many shouts/curses/auras etc. to choose from and what if combining two masteries would allow access to a 3rd mini mastery tree with max 10 points and a few skills in there, like warlock/deceiver would have access to curses, tactician/warder/warlord to banners or shouts or paladins and some others to auras, druids to some healing HoT spells etc, but as these classes can be built in so many different ways(2h warlocks anyone?), maybe its not worth making a mod for it.
Third mastery idea has been suggested before, but would a) probably be a nightmare to balance at this stage of the game and b) too late in the development of the game to implement. You’re talking more or less rebalancing masteries that have been around for 3 years now for most of them, not to mention all the items that would also need to be redone.
If you want it, it’s going to be a mod for that - if it can even be done with a mod.
Yes, i mean as a mod ofc.
Have you tried the Diablo 2 mod for Grim Dawn, Reign of Terror http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47624
?
I will, when its finished, looking good so far.
Interresting idea but with 3 masteries you will just steamroll the game imo
I kinda like the idea. A minimastery, with 10 points or so to further complement a build is nice. That wouldn’t stretch out points allocation too much, provided you don’t have 2 base masteries that are themselves starved for points
I’ve thought of this but without skill points. Instead choose a ‘kit’ including not having a kit. Each kit introduces bonuses but also penalties. The idea comes from Dungeons and Dragons and is in the games Baldurs Gate 2. It’s also now in Pillars of Eternity 2.
It would require creativity and an impressive understanding of the game balance to keep the kits interesting and balanced.
