I think it would make sense when you auto combine your materials for them to stack on the largest completed pile, or if there aren’t any completed piles then on the largest partial component pile. Recently I organized a whole bunch in my inventory and they get all moved around when auto piling. This way when you are looking for say polished emeralds they’re always in the same place in your inventory.
