[Melee Aether] DW-Aether Sorcerer

Yea, I’m leveling a piercing FS Sorc atm (You didn’t create the idea for it, lol. I just never had gotten around to it because I was playing piercing Primal instead). Probably going to set it up to have both and alternate between them, the VoS for AoE bulk clear, then swapping to melee to burn down the remaining enemies.

Both builds have some serious synergy though, so thats a good thing for enabling easy swapping and leveling.

Ofc I didnt, I even stated that, its an old idea, like almost every other build here, I just polished it a bit :wink:
That could work really good, specially against hard single targets ie. nemesis/bosses.

Yea, a while back I revived the CDR breaker (Most people considered it trash post-nerf. I proved otherwise, just that it was gear requirement for the perfect loadout was probably the most specific gear possible in the game, requiring some insane rolls/double-rares. Although it was my first ultimate character…).

Sadly, when they released the Crucible, turns out adding a free +20% CDR buff to a build which could achieve 85% cooldown reduction innately on it’s main damage ability was… stupid. They promptly deleted thing that made the build function, the innate CDR on the second node of Shadowstrike to replace it with a flat reduction. R.I.P. Iskandra Nightmage, shall your memory of the fun of a truly fluid and fast paced build in a genre/game where that generally doesn’t exist remain forever. Seriously though, playing the build was like flying by the seat of your pants, because you could remain in Shadowstrike for upwards of 20-30 seconds at a time without ever leaving it before you finally ran out of enemies to bounce between like a pinball, all the while spamming tons of blade spirits and devotion procs covering the map. Seriously, I could have upwards of 15 leviathan procs up at once, potentially 10+ Elemental Seekers, and everything resist shredded with crown procs.

I mentioned in some thread when the patch got released when i saw someone posted a screen of that item. I only played the dungeon once before going on vacation (No Grim Dawn, real life calls :cry:)

Not really surprised you missed it since it was a really short-lived thread, i am interested in testing his scepter. Though i had a different setup than the one you’re suggesting in mind. I will update the build when i run through the dungeon with the current setup on ultimate to post results.

JoV is right i am skeptical regarding performance due to attack speed drop. Before using Master’s Spellblade this build used Wrath of the Ascendant. So i can’t guarantee it’d really boost this build

Also, for piercing FS i recommend Saboteur.

I think you are mis-understanding “piercing.” Not talking the damage type, talking the ability for the projectiles to pierce to the targets to hit further targets. (Empowered) Will of Fate and Vortex of Souls both enable all ranged attacks to pierce through their targets.

Sorry a noob question, but why take Ulzuin’s Chosen if it only affects skills you don’t have (jacks, grenado, canister)?

Grim-calc is bugged atm, something is causing it to mis-remember almost the entire Demo skill tree.

Can you please re-make the build with grimcalc, and put an updated link to see if it gets better?

Hmm, i won’t get back to the game till after x-mas. After that I was thinking of running Valbury and then simultaneously updating the entire thread (should any changes be required that is). Is the grimcalc really so broken?

Chthon, when you update the weapon, is aether damage in Fire Strike increased?

If you don’t mind, would you please show the aether damage in Fire Strike ?

11185 - 13424 damage on Fire Strike, is all chaos damage converted to aether ?

I still experimenting with my dual wield aether witch hunter, for full chaos conversion I need 2 Albrecht’s Duality rings or using part of Clairvoyant’s set, so I can use Band of the Eternal Haunt as other ring.

Necrosis relics is nice since it provides aether rr, you may use Direwolf Crest for enable the dual wield (may be change mark of divintiy will result on capping resistance problem)

I think JoV brought this up, i really hate sacrificing RR so won’t ever go for double AD rings. It’s just not my thing, plus they nerfed warpfire’s proc as well. And Switching from Master’s Spellblade to Aldritch’s Decree reduces my RR ability as well.
So no some chaos is left out.

Oh and i am aware of Necrosis but i can’t imagine a build without Mark of Divinity.

Can you, please, give some intermediate advices how would you lvl this toon, mb grimcalc links @ some lvl steps + devotion progression, having a hard time deciding what to take, pointless to aim at your lvl85 build obviously.

Your aether damage is greater than my witch hunter.
Luckily I don’t have to use other items for dual wield, so I can use necrosis.

Arcanist tree really has good skills for boosting aether up

It looks like Battlemage, Warlock, Spellbreaker, Pyromancer, and Witchblade are interesting aether builds

I try make one with Withcblade, here’s the aether conversion from other damage (physical and chaos)

Like you said, DW Battlemage probably has more damage. It has more skills that boost up aether damage.

I like your idea for using aether damage.
I was thinking it will be hard for aether melee to shine, since ETK said it a long time ago.
Fortunately in 1.0.0.7 aether resist on mobs reduced :slight_smile:

My toons still needs leveling the arcane bomb for more aether rr.

Yeah i said that, 428% WD is pretty easy to work with imo. I made a sorcerer to show the full potential of conversion.
