Is there any melee style of play that isn’t as difficult as playing ranged? I had no issues playing my vitality arcanist, easily disposing of large mobs with ease…but damn if my conjurer at the early stage…i now just hit level 24…die quite a bit compared to my arcanist/shaman. What am i missing…
Not sure exactly what you mean, but
If you’re playing melee, you should have life leech.
You should also have a good mix of cc
You should also have reasonable HP regen
If you want to be facetanking everything… you need crap loads of all the above!
If you’re pet conjurer, look at the pokemon build in the build section. really well thought out
Going melee is quite tougher. You need high resistances, armor, speed, CC and, AND an active healing source.

There’s a lot you’ll need to manage for a melee. And you’ll really need to juggle all of them, slack on one area too much and you’re toast. Comes down to:
(Based on ultimate SC, adjust down for elite and below)
*Resists (need near 80% for everything except maybe vit and acid)
*HP - 10k+
*DA - 1800+ min
*Melee/projectile avoidance - as much as you can without gimping dmg
*Healing (life leech/skills/pots/ect) - As much as you can w/o gimping dmg
*Armor & especially armor absorbtion - 100% absorb + As much as you can w/o gimping dmg
*Crowd control & damage reduction (war cry, ect.) - War cry or similar is likely all you really need if everything else is good.
Get all of that in check and then get solid defensive item abilities (fateweaver legs/golemborn greaves) add in some devotion procs in there and you’ll face-tank most everything.
Basically, you’re pretty gear dependant. Pretty standard for melee in these sort of games.
And i thought soldier is the easiest…
