[MOD] Swampdweller class

wee! a new mastery mod
Currently has (5x2)+(4x4x2)+2+(1x6) item support. those items will come later. dont expect to do sr, maybe ultimate is doable tho (maybe)

The Mastery

“Foolish are those who dare brave the swamps and marshes of Cairn alone, for it is home to the ever deadly Swampdwellers, humans with an affinity for acid and sadistic tendencies. Since the times of old, Swampdwellers have been known to have actively seal pacts with wendigo spirits, causing them to become ruthless, animal-like monsters that can tear foes asunder while staying physically human. Those that do not create pacts with wendigo spirits tend to master the power contained within the swamp they reside, able to combine alchemy and witchcraft to sprout forth sharp, poisonous plants in an instant, mutate nearby fauna to their will, or to bend nature around them with vile acids and witchcraft.”

These people have lived in the swamps and marshes since the times of old. They have witnessed the birth and sealing of the Ravager across multiple time periods, the rise and fall of Arkovia, The first summoning of the Logghorean into the material plane in Asterkarn, up to the those of the aetherials would call the “Glorious Dawn”.

  • has 27 skill nodes +3 transmuters
  • pierce, chaos, acid, and bleed themed
  • On the top row are skills themed around tearing things apart, be it human, monster, or even the veil of reality itself
  • On the bottom row are skills themed around the ingenuity used to survive in the harsh conditions of the swamp, such as manipulating plants and incapacitating adversaries using acid and poison
  • Has a hint of the Witch Gods meddling (Solael and Bysmiel)
  • Offensive focused mastery, featuring a whopping 0 circuit breakers
  • Has retal and RATA support

Item Obtaiment



Summon Thornelius by using the “Peculiar Seed” item, purchasable via the Devil’s Crossing faction vendor. It will allow you to “craft” swampdweller gear.
Swampdweller items except MIs will only be obtainable via Thornelius

Thornelius is very possesive and thus can and will appear whenever it feels lonely, just go away from it and it will disappear back into it’s realm

  • you can now get the items from Thornius. to summon him, buy the “Peculiar Seed” in devil’s crossing faction vendor and use the item (thanks to Bane, and by extension, Ceno and Asylum101 for the script.   • Thornius will occasionally jumpscare you as a reminder to grab swampdweller gear (actually a bug where Thornelius will spawn randomly in certain spots, now called a “feature”)

New item set - 4pc The First Runner (and its lv75 counterpart, The Runner). Deserter set. bleed blade arc and bleed violent outburst
New item set - 4pc Baan’s Legacy (and its lv75 counterpart, Baan’s Equipment). Executioner set. chaos condense with support for demolitionist mastery buffs like blast shield
New item set - 4pc The Black Death (and its lv75 counterpart, The Plague). Witch set. acid dreadgaze meets acid pox, using both transmuters (fevered rage and boil) is not really recommended.

adjusted Stench Of the Swamp - removed phys red dmg thing, replaced with stackable flat -da
adjusted Assimillate (bloom2) - removed -movespeed, it didnt even work anyway
adjusted condense’s hit fx and sound fx, now it hijacks different vanilla effects :slight_smile:
adjusted Devour - increased internal cooldown to 0.46
adjusted Pall (devour3) - now projectile goes further away from the toon, and spawns closer to the toon too. looks prettier but it is kinda a nerf(?)
adjusted Pall (devour3) sfx - now is less loud
adjusted dreadgaze - increased flat chaos, increased cd by 1.5s

nerfed Rampant Blossom (bloom3) - reduced flat rr duration from 5s to 3s
nerfed Sharpvine Scatter - changed animation from fastThrow (stun jacks speed) to Throw (blackwater speed). now you need cast speed :). also increased projectile velocity
nerfed Uncontrollable Growth (Sharpvine Scatter transmuter) - increased cooldown to 4.5s
nerfed annihilate - increased cd to 3s (in line with primal strike), transmuter adjusted accordingly

I like to test new classes, from what I saw it is a class focused on chaos and poison skills, the grim dawn community is very fond of permanent pets, that’s what I missed, it would be good to add at least 2 or 3, considering that it will use chaos skills and acid or poison, it could by summoning two spiders or scorpions and snakes to chaos, would consider adding some skill effects, that’s my opinion…

Can you make ranged weapons take advantage of your mod? This increases build diversity further.

yea im planning to have an inquisitor x swampdweller set that uses guns, maybe also make non-set guns too, but to make skills such as devour or annihilate available without specific guns will probably not be done bc of the theme of those skills

HI.
I just watch you mod and made RU-translaion. And here is list of bugs and strange things I found.

  • Devour - description says “Devour replaces every other strike”, actually it replace every 2nd attack. May be some linguistic trick, but i think “other” not equal to “second”.
  • Peculiar seed - description say Thornius, while NPC name is Thornelius
  • Bloom skill doesn’t have techincal text, that summons scales with player bonuses. Summons also have not name.
  • Ambiance of Spores skill icon featureless, I thought it have no icon when fust time seen it.
  • Non-mythical Incantations of Pestilence require 94lvl
  • Flower of Putrid Blossoms doesn’t displays on toon in inventory
  • Spectral Lance have incorrect texture. Looks like you not mirror it vertically.
  • Many new legendaries models doesn’t match their bitmaps
  • Pierce Light and Dark skill have very strange design. it unlocks dual-weild, but you can’t equip full set without dual-weild. combination of wave with autocast untypical too.
  • Delivery Gun skill have no icon

There are also utypical item naming. Usually Mythical version uses Style tag + Name tag, while you include word “Mythical” in item names. Set descriptions for different level of set usualy also same.

  1. devour description - i followed a similar naming scheme in the “Flak Blast” skill in outrider (zenith) inside grimmarilion, maybe it is quite confusing, may change it.
  2. peculiar seed - uhh yeaa i misstyped on the tags, will fix next hotfix (changelog is also misstyped too D:)
  3. bloom - i forgot to have that “scale with player damage bonuses” in the description, while the pet name i should have just added the same name as the skill. will fix next hotfix

i think the icon is too dark that it blends too much with the background, may change if i found a suitable bitmap.
5) incantations - oh i forgot to change it :upside_down_face:. will fix next hotfix
6) yea the mesh is quite odd, ill check but no promises for this specific issue
7) spectral lance - that was probably because it’s my first time extracting .tex from texviewer and i did not mirror it because at that time i did not know it mirrors when extracting. will fix next hotfix
8) bitmaps - i had not managed to get bitmapcreator working yet, so until i manage to get it working, yeaa icons stay like that :frowning:.
8a) about “Umbrella” of Myriad Manifestations bitmap, i forgot to add at least a more appropriate bitmap, will change next hotfix.
9) pierce light and dark dual wield thing - i wanted it to be able to be used with inqui only but the wierd thing is if you equip a relic that gives dual wield then you can use it, ill just change it to regular ranged next hotfix as well as give the helmet dual wield capability. design wise its to have bullets shoot like crazy visually and that those bullets guarantees hitting something, making it feel like aimbot cowboy marksman
10) delivery gun - ah yes i still have to rework that skill properly -_-. currently feels bad and has no icons
9) naming scheme - hmm i never known that there is a style tag bruh. will change next hotfix. different set descriptions are for variety since they are weaker versions and are suited to have descriptions that depict that they are weaker

it seems most issues stem from my text files -_-. anyway thanks for the report Denis!

As long as You use recolorize items, bitmapcreator is not necessary.

Just came back to GD & love trying out new mods. As another said perhaps a perm pet? or perhaps make buffs etc effect allies/pets so u can mix with other classes that have pets. I see this as a good mix for other pet classes if the skills could effect those pets as well. Looks good.

hmm i should probably give some buffs range yea, woudn’t hurt to do so. as for perm pets, currently with the modding tool (dbreditor) does not work when opening any creature file, so the workflow to make pets just became a lot harder (i have to use np++) so at most i could have an item set with pets support but sadly no perm pets until they fix the tool.

Tx for explaining. Yea having the buffs etc work on other pets/allies would be great. Havent gotten very far yet. doing necro/swamp. The only problem ive run into. Ive seen in a different mod. For some reason the npc the tree thing ur suppose to summon shows up while out fighting or moving. This is before I bought the seed from the merchant. This happened in somebody else mod as well. You were suppose to buy the npc from the merchant. trying to remember which mod. poor memory & too many mods. Any way to make that a little smaller? till u fixed that problem. its a little annoying trying to get around it when fighting. It doesnt seem to happen that often. & i dont know whats triggering it.

yea that “bug” comes from me using the same method as DarkestDawnReborn mod (version 02), essentially darkestdawn has changed the merchant method from spawning to replacing an npc to fix the bug. the funny thing is grimnest on dom doesnt randomly spawn like that, which is quite weird since it’s quite similar. maybe ill take a look at that for the summoning script to (hopefully) get rid of that bug for good

also necro/swamp currently has no set (yet. planning have a set to turn skelles to wraiths and flowers to big wraiths but gonna take awhile with np++) so you gotta do custom or shattered realm set for now.

a status update - not a mod update
DBReditor now works on creature files again! thus making the Fleshlord (necro/swamp) set creation easier. yay :tada: :tada:

on another note, Thornelius will (i think) no longer spawn randomly! :tada: i swapped the spawn mechanism from script-based (current, seen in DarkestDawnRebornV02) to dbr-hacky-based (grimmest_dom method). a couple downsides to this method is you can spam spawn Thornelius (as in having multiple copies of him in the map) and also not disappearing when walking away from it. dont worry tho if you reset a cell (enter a different cell – wait a couple seconds – go back to the previous cell), Thornelius will return to his realm.
