Modding a Mod

When you mod a mod, does it save automatically? Or do you need to do something to it for it to save? (I tried rebuilding the mod and got a ton of errors, but the changes I made weren’t evident in the game. Maybe I just messed up somewhere else?) Thanks in advance!

A lot of ‘resources’ typically aren’t packaged and sent out to the player.

Some mods make available their source material and others have github accounts that can be cloned.

Intellectual property.

You need their permission to distribute first and foremost, then the source folders themselves, not the .arc files.

So if you have the source documents, can it be done? If so, then do you just rebuild the mod?

What you are looking for is basically this just with modifying stuff without merging.

Very curious what you are trying to do. Most of the modders are here (and on Discord), so just tell us what you want to do, and provided it is not totally insane, you might end up with exactly what you need in no time.

I’m hoping to edit some of the classes to change them up to see how they work. If I change this skill here then in game what will it do. I’m trying to see how the mods work by using what someone else has done before as a guide to help me create a mod myself.

That is a very good start to modding. That is how I got my feet wet.

Check out the Witch Doctor mod.

The dev gives permission to modify it for personal use.

Well looking at skills and how they work is invaluable. I can also check to test bugs or other information.

For example… I posted on the Coronus forum because my Proxy skill isn’t working. I can’t download the source information though for DAIL, so I can’t poke into the skill to see why or if I’m doing something wrong. I know one of the files (skills) has a weapon check, so to see that and look into it would provide insight.

By the way, while I am posting this, yea, I can’t get the proxy skill to work haha. Equipped a 2 handed mace, sword, 1 handed sword, dagger, etc… and I can’t seem to get the ability to work.
