So, today once more do I roam the world in search of items - this time I came looking for MIs.
Here I noticed a queer thing: Human Heroes drop all their MIs, while non-humans heroes merely have a chance to drop them!
Now, it does kind of make sense, that humans have all their MIs equipped to make themselves stronger, but I do wish to have some form of ‘buff’ to non-human heroes as well.
Basically, the reasoning being: the remains of Monster Heroes are far superior and thus it is easier to at least get one MI out of their remains.
Anyway, here is another poll because I love polls!
Human Heroes shall not drop all their MIs!
It should stay as it currently is
Non-human heroes should drop all their MIs aswell!
Non-human heroes should have at least one MI drop guaranteed.
I only care about killing! Loot does not matter! (I don’t care)
Well, yes, if they do have two chests MIs, they will only drop one of them because they have them equipped. On the other hand, if they have helm, shoulders, armor and weapon - they will drop all 4. It may be that they have 5 MIs because they have a second chest armor, but you are still guaranteed some form of MI.
If you are, say, killing a Sandviper Hero, he too has two weapon MIs, but you are not guaranteed to drop one of them because they do not have them equipped. That is the current state, but it still feels a bit off when a human hero drops so many more MIs than a non-human one.
Taking loxmere as an example from memory he has a 55% chance for mainhand and 15% for offhand to equip a loxblade in each respective slot (ballpark numbers). He has other percentages that roll for equipping gear to other slots which may yield other MIs but is not guaranteed to. Across a half dozen slots this may give the impression of always dropping an MI, but such cases of 100% MI droprate are few: generally limited to special fixed spawns like Alkamos and Shar’zul, or nemeses. You’ll typically see these 100% drop rates as a compensating factor for how long it takes to farm the source of said MI.
Heroes, in this case, are meant those normal stars you can find anywhere. Just visit Korvan City Rift, kill some heroes of the Chosen there and you will see what I mean. They ALWAYS drop their helm, spaulders and chest. Or at least they do for me.
Similar can be observed when facing Ascended Heroes in Malmouth. There they tend to drop 3 MIs at once, too (shoulder, helm and off-hand). That is not exactly true for all heroes, since Valaxteria for example does not do this. (Generally it seems that ‘special bosses’ that have spawn locations, do not act like this)
EDIT: Here an example of what I mean:
EDIT2: This isn’t true for all bosses, though, since Brother Segarius, for example, does drop multiple of his MIs as well. (though in this case, there is a chance of him not dropping some parts, as can be seen in grimtools)
I don’t know how relevant this is but here’s another poll option that makes sense:
HUMAN ENEMIES SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EQUIP MI WITH AFFIXES FROM AFFIX POOLS MEANT FOR PLAYERS.
Theoretically, this is one of the biggest balance problems in GD. Enemies should not have access to stats balanced for players and vice versa. The reasons are quite obvious but let’s bring up one - enemies do not have caps on resistances. So a combination of affixes such as Sheltering of Squalls/Winter Storm (120+% cold res from affixes on one item alone) can result in totally impervious enemies even for rr-stacked characters.
Don’t forget the offensive version of the same problem, where Aleksander rolling fire/aether affixes on his scepter and tome makes his meteor vary wildly in power.
