More brightness / gamma

Currently I can only play windowed, because otherwise the game will be much too dark even with the gamma slider all the way to the right (I’m using a CRT monitor).

Needs at least twice that amount of gamma (possibly more), and would be great to be able to adjust brightness and contrast as well, the way I can in CCC.

What is CCC ? GD has sufficient brightness and contrast with the default settings, so if even at max it is too little, that sounds more like a monitor issue.

Can’t you adjust that on the monitor or is it maxed there already as well ?

CCC= catalyst control manager, AMD’s excuse for a GPU control panel

I don’t know about AMD’s but Nvidia’s lets you tweak such things further in the control panel if you wish.

Perhaps the OP should dig around and figure it out.

If he has the in-game gamma (must be in Fullscreen mode to use btw) all the way to the right and it is still too dark then something is wrong with settings elsewhere on his system or with the monitor itself.

Why would you assume I already haven’t? CCC only has color adjustment for desktop and video players, not games, which should always have their own settings for that sort of thing.

You are obviously speculating, so why present your ignorance as if it must be my ignorance? Old monitors were often calibrated to be much less bright, so the default settings of newer graphics cards leave the screen much darker than it should be.

CCC lets me adjust desktop gamma up to 3.5, while this game allows max gamma of 1.5 approximately. I think it’s pretty clear where the “fault” is.

And yes, the problem from one perspective is that I can’t use my desktop color settings when playing fullscreen. That’s why I said I have to play it windowed currently.

Edit the brightness/gamma settings manually in the settings.ini file.

Ah, yes, ini files, I had forgotten they existed. How embarrassing…

Anyway, done, and thanks! It worked.

Indeed. Considering none of us can sit in front of your PC all anyone can do is some speculating. I go based off my experiences (Nvidia let’s me tweak settings like that, fullscreen) and provide suggestions.

You read too deeply into it, it seems. Glad you got it sorted. Enjoy.
