More detailed laborer information

The laborer information could be so much more detailed. The above says this person is transporting stored items, but is carrying nothing so it’s impossible to know what they’re really doing.

First suggestion is, in addition to “Carried” items there should also be “Seeking” or something like that to show what they are going to get. It needs both because it’s possible they are carrying some resource and going somewhere to get more.

Second suggestion is, buttons to focus on the journey endpoints. For Seeking, it’s where the resource was obtained from, and for Carrying it’s where the resource will be delivered.

This will be really useful information for laborers who are transporting resources or stocking a factory, to see where they are obtaining their materials.

The information would certainly be of interest. However, how do you envision it being of assistance without the ability to manually control a specific laborer to a specific task?
For example. I’ve had livestock farms that were in poor health due to excess waste. I had compost buildings nearby, but whenever I would manually move one of the compost workers to the livestock farm, the worker would just wander off to perform the task they were already on.
How do we apply the additional laborer info you mentioned? Adjustment of storage values? Production attunement?

I posted an idea for more control of laborers here : Laborer Information panel

Basically, it would give the player more control over the priorities of tasks for laborers. In the case of the compost worker, they are a professional, so that idea would not affect them. However I do wish composters were limited to a much smaller radius.

I’m not sure how much the laborer information would help either, at least until they got the logistics more efficient. It’s rather annoying to watch a laborer carry 1 or 2 veggies all the way across the map to another root cellar that already has an adequate supply. Or to restock a building, they obtain the supply from the farthest possible place when you have some in storage right next to it. So many things aren’t working right and they really need to redo that logic. Too often there are so many laborers “transporting stored items” that nothing else gets done, and maybe if there was a convenient place to find out what they are spending the time on, you could lower that priority and raise the priority of what you need done.
