I imagine this has been brought up a few times, but I didn’t see it in search so…
There are already blizzards and droughts, which is great and droughts especially require careful planning, but it would be fun, especially in pacifist mode, to have more types of potential problems to deal with and ways to deal with them. Possible examples include:
Earthquakes (damages buildings; can earthquake-proof buildings with expenditure)
Floods (damages buildings and forces temporary retreat from flooded areas, can build levees/walls)
Hurricanes (damages buildings and forces shelter seeking, can reinforce structures)
Wildfires (burns vegetation and buildings, can build firebreaks and put out fires with water as usual)
perhaps others?
"Paganblade: are there natural disasters? tornados? flooding?
Zantai: We opted not to do natural disasters. The way they often work in town builders is like it is kind of fun to see a town get devastated, but maybe only once and after you saved. To have it happen randomly can be pretty crushing sometimes.
Medierra: no tornados or flooding but buildings can be struck by lightening and catch fire, heat waves can destroy crops and cause water shortages
Medierra: the natural disaster type stuff that exists are things the player can significant mitigate through proper town planning / food management
Medierra: I don’t really like totally random disasters that just own your town and you’re left to try to rebuild"
I don’t know about any of you but I’m playing right now and I haven’t had a single year without crop loss from heat or frost. Not a single flax or wheat crop that didn’t get the debuff. Crazy, please no more disasters I’m barely hanging on just trying to feed and produce.
Crop loss is extremely common for me too. I find I have to have a number of farms all going with crops with different sorts of tolerances (heat, frost, drought) every year, or food becomes scarce.
Yeah I run sets of three farms with a rotation. It’s funny right as I was checking here I got crop lost to heat then got crop lost to frost all in the middle of summer. Who would have thought you can have a heat wave an early frost all together!
