Is it easy to say: Offensive Ability ist the most important stat or items without Defensive Ability are trash?
Are there different opinions?
My Problem is.
My char is on the way to 100 and i want to survive better, be better.
Until now, i only keep an eye to DPS and the resis.
I didn’t look to OA or DA. Think, thats a big bad mistake.
Sorcerer (Demolitionist+Arcanasit)
ranged, 2x 1hand or 2hand (depends on the weapon i’ll find)
Fire Strike, Demon Breath, Blackwater(incl. Meteor)
Depends, what character do you play? Melee tank? Ranged? Damage Over Time melee? Summoner?
As the game guide says, if you see your character missing hits a lot (you should have the damage number overlays enabled), you should increase the OA. If you notice enemies critically hitting you, increase DA. Go into your character inventory, mouse overlay should show the % chance of you hitting enemies/them hitting you. Keep in mind, spells need an attack roll same as physical attacks, so OA is important for casters too.
You should be ok if you can get to 2400 OA and 2500 DA or better. You can use debuffs from flashbang to help get through their defenses. Higher is better.
You’ll also want 20% or better physical resistances. You can use BWC to help you tank with the added 15% physical resistance, but you’ll want your character to still hit 20% before BWC.
I’m not sure if I’m missing something but as far as I can see it is impossible for a sorcerer to reach 10K+ HP 2500 DA and 20% phy res while still having decent dps.
Could you give a grim tools link for a sorcerer has these kind stats?
Phys resistance can be done through devotion and gear. There are a few areas in the game in AoM, where the mobs rain physical resists on everything (green gear). The next time I go through those areas, I’ll write it down, but I recalled leaving areas to sell off my loot, to find about 5 pieces of shoulders, boots, chest, helm, legs and belts with physical resists. It’s happened every character I’ve sent through AoM, each difficulty. It seems there is a couple regions which drop physical resists.
You can also get up to about 10 physical resists from devotions. BWC also has a transmuter to add 15% physical resists too.
I’m not sure how easy DA is going to be. It wasn’t that easy for me, but I did eventually get there on my Apostate. 2500 is about the point where they stop critting. You can rely on OA debuffs too. It doesn’t have to be base DA. Look at devotions as well.
My Sorcerer is still lvl 85, but i put the basic Defense Setup (planned for lvl 100) here:
one can easily reach 9,8k Life and over 2400 DA without any Equipment. With this Devotion Skill Setup you also have a lot of resistances, so it is very easy to max out all resistances. It also Provides a bit more Armor, wich helps if you strugle to get Physical resistance, but you need to get at least 97% armor absorption (you can use 2 Scaled Hide for that), better 100% (look for some of the new Augments that boosts Absorption).
If you go for a CRD Sorc max out Blastshield and put Mirror at 12 to have them ready very often. Flashbang is usefull for groups of trash, invest in searing Light if you have problems with them, Bosses atre mostly immune to Fumble and Impaired Aim. If you have problems with Stun resistance, get more points in Conversion, but be carefull, it gets more inefficient the higher it gets. Use a Component with high armor on your Belt. Hollowed Ground can help a lod with DA.
Dont underdestiminate Green stuff, espiecally some Boots can get pretty good resistances and Defensives.
at lvl 100 i prefer to have at least 2700 DA, better 2800 so i am immune to crit of bosses, even if i´m debuffed.
my lvl 100 Spellbreaker got 2850 DA + lowers enemys OA with Nightblade aura.
You better start a bit more defensive, you can still sacrifice some defense for DMG if you are still able to survive Mad Queen, Burbon, Iron Maiden and Co.
I don’t think there is one. It’s not really about focusing on one or two stats at the expense of all else, but rather meeting the base requirements for all stats and then seeing how you can go beyond to really make your build solid.
So the “most important stat” I’d say is any stat that doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. Once all you bases are covered, then go back to the damage formula and find out where you can improve. Since the formula is multiplicative there again isn’t one important stat, try and get an efficient balance.
Flat Damage X Damage Bonus % X Crit Chance X Crit Damage X Resist Reduction X Attack(Cast) Speed.
Like i wrote. Until now my focus was the damage. Now i’ll switch that focus.
All my devotios are for the damage. I’ll look after work and switch some devotios to def.
my mistake: here is the correct one. That´s a lot of defensive, take as much of it as you need to survive and use the rest for damage. I didn´t use Items, i just want to show my basic defense setup Skills.
If you feel the need for more heal, go for healing rain instead of Natures Guardians.
If you go for the 2500 DA and 10000 Life mentioned here before you just need 25 Life and 26DA, that´s almost nothing.
