Diablo 2 used a lot of multi-hit attacks where you were locked into place until they finished: Zeal, Strafe, Dragon Talon, Fury. Three of these were melee focused and hit 5 times, while “strafe” was up to 10 ranged shots and was imho a highly rewarding risk rewarding skill.
I’m still getting a feel on what GD’s engine can and can’t do… But is there any functional way to mimick this? Specifically the risk reward aspect of being locked into a longer animation even?

This mastery mod has something similar to that in a way in the Fangshi mastery.
If you take Blossom Step with it’s modifier it will lock you in place and hit the enemies multiple times (while granting you pretty high Damage absorption, Max of ~50%, at maxseen you can’t do anything else throughout it), it’s actually really fun to use and might be closest to the style you want as it locks you in place and you can’t do anything at all for the duration so it’s not OP either.
Or you could just hold shift while attacking which will lock you in place for as long as you have shift held
I’m referring to how the game engine requires immobilized attacks opposed to movement while attacking. It would be a great break though for this dated engine.
