My 2H Range Druid Level 50 Build

Ive been having lots of fun playing this build. Obliterates monsters in Veteran Difficulty. Can run Steps of Torment with relative ease and Alkamos although no push over can be killed without too much problem as well.

ATM Im wrapping up Veteran and will be playing Elite immediately after. Any advice and suggestions on what to improve on elite will be most welcome. Thanks.

Finally a screenshot of my Druid with stats

I have a very similar build like this one, although my char is only lvl 40 still. What I did - for prototyping purposes - is that I added both Storm and Wendigo totem to the build. To make it a 2-Handed Range Totem Spam Master Druid… something…

The totems are actually kinda useful, for life gaining as well as allowing me to run around as a scared chicken, while still doing damage. Because of low resistances my current druid is in a permanent state of almost-dying, but I hope to fix this survivability in the coming 10 levels or so.

I also have 1 point in Savagery and 3 in Might of the Bear, but I’m wondering if that’s useful or not. Still… the build is fun. As long as I’m doing more damage than I’m receiving, it’s ok. Will this build survive Elite and Ultimate? I’m not convinced… yet.

Hello Bablo,

What is your DPS atm? I didnt really have that hard of a time leveling up to 40+. Though I think I only chose a second class when I was 43 or so. I was for the most part of the campaign a pure Shaman build with max Storm Totem and several points of the Wind Devil skill line. It was a breeze through and through dropping totems and wind devil although when I did get to act 3, my DPS alone outweighs the time wasted casting Wind Devils and Totems so I decided to just abandon them altogether and respec towards points in the Arcanist class and let Primal Strike do all the work which is working rather well for the time being.

Dunno exact numbers on DPS, but it’s probably a bit lower than yours, since I didn’t max out Primal Strike yet. I prefer not to depend on a single high DPS skill, mainly because I like to spam multiple buttons while playing. To keep things a bit more interesting, I also added the Lightning based item skills, like Lightning Storm and Lightning Nova.

I use something like the following rotation on groups of mobs:
Storm Totem - Wendigo Totem - Lightning Storm - Primal strike (2H attack) - spam Lightning Nova.

My Primal Strike attack usually procs for 3-4K damage, which is sufficient to one-shot most trash mobs. Bosses are giving me problems though, since I can only use PS every 3 secs and I don’t use any other single target spells or abilities.

Could you give me a general guide for attribute distribution?

Hello gosroth1

For stat distribution, I put 10 points into cunning for Cunning Reqs on Ranged Weapons so I can concentrate more on offensive stats on gear and devotion trees.

20 points or so on Spirit. Inner focus will help out greatly on Spirit so it shouldnt be a problem later on.

Everything else in Physique for Gear requirements and general survivability.

During early levels, I finished putting the 10 points into Cunning and a point here or there in physique while pumping spirit for extra Energy regen. During the later levels like 30 onward, i focus solely on getting my Physique up.

Hey!

I my self is playing shaman but i cant figure out why you would use and long range weapon?

please explain =)

Hello Omack,

I guess I just like the build and form and rifle works very well with Primal Strike in dealing 17k Lightning damage at range and it jumps to target to target and is very efficient in dealing with mobs. Also with max movespeed, its very fast and fun to clear certain areas like SoT or BoC while staying out of harms way for the most part.

I know that I can use a 2 handed melee weapon but I think I will use Savagery tree when I do a shaman 2 hander melee instead of primal strike.

Wow!

did not know you could use primal strike with ranged wep. thanks man this will help me alot

An interesting build - your DPS is actually higher than my level 61 variant, but my second mastery was soldier and I (tried) to focus on being tankier…

Some input though, if I may:

  • Wendigo Totem is great - the heal is rapid-fire and decent, and will keep you alive in longer boss fights in later difficulties, and it will help stop your HP from see-sawing so much as was seen in your SoT video.

  • Maiven’s Sphere of Protection: -10% damage for 20% damage absorption? Hell yes. In my opinion, this is a must have, especially for later difficulties. It will make you much tankier, and even though it will lower your DPS marginally, you do more damage whilst alive then dead :stuck_out_tongue:

  • Take 6 points out of IEE - the flat elemental damage probably isn’t as useful as maxing Overload or Elemental Balance (Elemental Balance for 25% crit damage, which is nice). (Looking at your video, it would appear the build you posted here is slightly different to the one in the video, so this may not apply to your actual build).

  • Your resistances are very low - when these are reduced by 25% in Elite, you will get taken down very fast by some mobs, especially poison ones. Where possible, I’d sacrifice a little damage for survivability (maybe opt for more defensive devotions?) If you want easy poison resist, put the Honored Devil’s Crossing augment on rings and amulets that gives 15% poison resist (it’s not permanent, but just something until you are level 70 and can use the armour augments).

  • Go and get the last 7 shrines in Normal (there are 28 in normal, in total). In the video, you only at 21 (I believe).

As an aside, could you post a screenshot of your secondary stats, i.e. lightning damage, etc? I’m curious as to how much you have, because that is some serious damage you are dealing in that video. Also, I’m surprised at your weapon, it doesn’t seem like it’d be the best for this build - Kymon’s Chosen has a great crossbow that gives lots of % lightning damage.

Hello Flying Potato,

Ive since rebuilt this build using a new character with improvements on areas you have mentioned and also improving weakenesses I have found in my previous playthrough. My new character named WinterSnow is at the same level with higher DPS, higher resistances, max movespeed, ridiculous attack speed, and overall much more better than the last one. She can handle BoC at Veteran quite well, though I must admit I died when I first run it because Im unfamiliar with the types of enemies encountered there. But during second run, it went rather smoothly.

Just a little bit of kiting and proper use of Mirror, she can take down bosses in under 5 seconds.

here are the screenshots to her DPS, and her modifiers

Im planning to get Bleeding, Vit and Chaos resistance when I do elite difficulty. As of right now it presents a problem with health being drained quickly by Harbingers and basically anyone with a red attack though to be fair, I can kite effectively and with her attack speed, some of those mobs I mentioned dont even have time to launch an attack before they die.

It’s a good build, i had lvl 79 Druid and doing good sofar. The only problem is finding a good weapon for this since i’m using a Empowered Salt-core Bolter and i had trouble to killing thing now :undecided:

Hello Ducsuper,

May I ask your DPS at level79. Im quite curious as to how much DPS i will be needing on elite or even ultimate difficulty so I can determine how much I can add and how much I can sacrifice to ramp up resistances as I pretty much like the speed in which Im killing things right now so I want to stay at that way and have a consistent output in both elite and ultimate difficulties.

Thanks,

Abe

Around 10 points in cunning (with hawk and Chariot of Dead) that would be enough to use any 2nd rifle.
The rest go to physic - maybe a few points in spirit early.

With all buff on i had around 10k DPS Trash mob is not a problem, i had trouble with elite/hero monsters it take times =.=

Hello Ducsuper,

Thank you thats really helpful and nice build as well. I really need to level up to get Maiven’s Sphere. I think that Ill be more tanky when I get that and have my devotion skills in order.

I’m glad that my input has been helpful

By the way, how on earth did you get so many rare materials / dynamite / etc?!? How long have you played on that character to get to 58? I don’t think my level 85 has anything close to that many materials or iron - o_o

Hello Flying Potato,

For dynamite farming, look for jobs in Devils Crossing bounty that has anything to do with mines, Bounties for Cronley gang is the prime example for this. Also you can just go over to Hannefy Mine, Darius Cronleys Hideout, and Staunton mine and clear those out, then refresh. Each run on this 3 mines nets about 7 - 8 dynamites. With max move speed, I can clear those 3 in like 5 - 10 minutes.

For Rare materials such as tainted brain matter, etc etc. Dismantle blues you dont need. this will either give you Ancient hearts, Blood of Chton, or brain matter and tons of scrap. After that, you can then trade with Horrus for any rare mats you need with the ones youve gotten.

For the Iron Bits, its not that hard to farm. Especially when its my second playthrough and all the items are already founded by my previous character and is just waiting to be worn so I dont need to craft anything at all or buy anything.

Dont buy anything till you get to level 58 and yeah pretty much youll have the same amount of money as me.

Haha, that’s how - I’ve never dismantled a blue or purple, and I have over 12 characters storing them (why do I need 20x dreadnaught foodpads? or 12x Backscratchers?). I guess I can’t make myself throw them away :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I don’t bother to farm at lower levels, as all my gear will likely be replaced pretty quickly in higher difficulties. Nonetheless, thank you very much for the advice

Confused as to how you get this number. OP gearing, I imagine?

Could you list your gear / devotions?

I have a similar PS druid build doing A4 Elite comfortably with 4k DPS. Still using a L33 Chosen Bolt. Could tooltip higher with a rare rifle, but the effective DPS is lower.
