No, unless we agree to consider them as such for the sake of the thread.
Ironically, unless we agree to not consider them as such, shields should count as weapons.

Yeah, this and the pierce. I also like the proc
Stats are ok but the AS is weird
Then I would have to say armarastan crusher. What does it actually do?
If shields count, off-hands should too.
After all, this (see attachment) works for off hands too.
And in this case, my list of best weapons in game:
Non-mythical Blood Orb of Ch’thon
Non-mythical Tome of the Arcane Wastes
Non-mythical Codex of Lies
I’m completely serious (and may or may not be biased
)
Weapons I like:
Exterminus - AS, brimestone, +1 to occu, darkflame prock - everything is fine
Wordeater - awesome looking, AS, CS, +2 to demo AND +1 to soldier (insane), beautiful prock
Gutripper - shot, shot, shot, bleed, bleed, bleed
Weapons I don’t like:
Earthsplitter - really can’t imagine a man who prefers this axe for 1-handed FW instead of Pummeler/Mutant Bludgeon
Edge of Sanity - another one axe for 1-handed FW, another one example of poor item designs. This weapon are bad in everything (well, maybe only art are good).
Amarastan Crusher - could you imagine any heavy-based acid/poison build that used this mace? Because I can’t.
Spark of Reality - this weapon are required a total remake, nowadays it’s not just bad, it’s really don’t have their places in the game.
Gutsmasher (also known as gamecrasher) - the original idea of this hammer was excellent, we would have received an alternative to the guillotine. After the proc was reworked, this weapon became an absolutely useless piece of trash. IMHO is the worst weapon in the game.
Shields are mechanically close to weapons. They have base damage. E.g. if a skill has offhand damage listed and you have a shield then shield’s damage is inflicted as if it was weapon. In this case shield follows same rules as weapons, e.g. flat damage bonus will only apply to shield attacks and adcth will also apply only to shield attacks. The only difference from actual weapons is that you don’t naturally hit with a shield.
Caster offhands are fundamentally different because they don’t have base damage. Flat damage and adcth us applied to the mainhand weapon instead. They are basically like rings and such mechanically.
I’m completely aware of your point, i just wanted to point out that, regarding to in-game terminology, off-hands are tecnically fall into the category of “all weapons” (see Crane and Dryad).
My favorites
Shar’zul’s Worldeater - Very strong and useful AoE granted skill with both high damage, nice to proc devotions, reduces enemy OA and can shotgun large enemies at point blanck, high phys to fire conversion, both Attack Speed and Casting Speed (good for both Fire Strike and Forcewave), lots of +skill points for Soldier and Demo… and it just looks awesome.
Mythical Warpfire - high % Fire/Burn damage (one of the few with increased duration), OA, Cast Speed, +1 on all skills for arcanist and demo and resistance shred on the proc. As others have said, even after the recent nerfs it still a favorite weapon for Fire casters.
Mythical Hellborne - Burn baby, burn! Flat Burn Damage, % burn with increased duration, Burn mod for Bursting Rounds, +2 skills to both demo and inquisitor, lots of Attack Speed and even 100% Phys > Fire conversion to Grenado and increased radius to spice things up a bit. Oh! it has no physical damage whatsoever to taint this beauty.
Least favorites
Mad Queen’s Claw - Honestly, the weapon is obviously intended for auto-attack + WPS but… No attack speed? It doesn’t help that it is a sword with low phys->acid conversion while Rift Scourge Slicers (daggers, with pure acid damage and have more hits per second) exists, have total speed bonus and can roll with pretty good affixes.
Spark of Reality - Really low % Aether/Chaos damage for a scepter, low CS, low HP and… I don’t know what kind of role this weapon tries to fill… whatever it may be, it failed.
3.Misery - Again, a sword without attacks speed so, bad for auto attack builds. It’s a sword, with low % Acid/Poison damage and the bonus to Grasping Vines and Blood of Dreeg while given +1 to all Nightblades skills are strange. I can’t imagine anything good from an Acid/Poison Trickster, and just about any other option is better for a Witch Hunter.
Yes, but your Savagery pierce vindicator is more of a gimmicky build, mate, no offense. And it’s not your fault, you tried piecing together a pierce build with shaman with a set designed for a soldier. And look all of that physical damage leftover, yikes.
On the topic of swords: besides pierce swords (that are pretty great) we have Mindwarp (which absolutely op) and… that’s about it, all other swords suck balls.
And yet it came out pretty dang well. Don’t see why you’re hating on his build or the rifle, when it can clearly be put to good use either as-intended (Cadence) or otherwise (Savagery).
Not hating on it, Veteragna did all he could, but build is still average because set doesn’t support Vindicator.
My main problem is with the Rifle, why can’t we converse 100% of the damage from it is a mystery to me. Just a design flaw, imo, especially when you have Gildor’s Pulverizer with 100% conversion.
Every weapon listed in this thread has been deleted for either being OP or UP.
Thank you for your cooperation.
There are definitely a few items in here that were due for some attention. Expect to see changes in v1.0.7.0.
Maybe some time I’ll remake it with Cadence and see what happens
About swords: I can say many 1H swords are nice, especially dedicated ones. Edge of Death, Crystallym, Reaver’s Claw. But I partially agree, many 1H swords are bad at the same time.
For who you have to kill to get this item, it should be significantly better. I would enjoy seeing this receive a hefty buff, and feel it needs one as well.
On the topic of crappy swords: why is pagar’s betrayal a sword in the first place? Every single stat on it is a caster stat and would be a natural fit for a caster weapon. I feel like someone is trolling everyone by having made it a sword, disqualifying it from everything that requires a caster weapon. If so, good job I guess, also because this is one of the rare chaos melee items… but of course isn’t one.
I genuinely thought it was a dagger for the longest time until just yesterday when i found it was a sword. Definitely should be a dagger in my opinion.
Just don’t forget to buff Inquisitor and Forcewave, a class and a skill that were both overlooked by devs for too long!
It might be just better with Soldier and Cadence really, as I said, you did what was possible for an exotic build, not your fault Valdun’s Rifle kinda sucks.
I found out when I was looking for alternatives to fang of chton for a chaos dw melee build. This … thing … is one of the very few chaos themed one handers, its taking a valuable spot. Insult to injury, a high quality trolling indeed
On valdun: Valdun is still far from being worst, tho. It’s not even meme level like Spark of Reality. It’s good, just not on the level you expect it to be.
On Mindwarp/swords: Mindwarp might be OP, but it’s a necessary evil to make Krieg builds (aka what the newbs will look for), work. Without it, only binders will be able to use Krieg set effectively.
I second this. Really, it’s just the low AS bonus and middling skill bonuses that leave it a tad behind the pack of really great sets.
