When it comes to class choices this game is an embarrassment of riches. Unfortunately that can be pretty paralyzing. There is only so much time to try different builds. Personally I am looking for a pure caster, no melee, ideally no pets. Something that can put on a light show, probably lightning. Decent in the endgame would be a bonus. I have looked at the local build compendium but can’t make up my mind and don’t want to blow 50 hr only to discover it’s not quite what I want. Sort of like the witchblade I am playing at the moment. Trozan sky shard /storm totem/wind devil
If you have gear you can convert damage to lightning but it is much harder to gear properly when converting.
Of the Choices I tend to like lightning forcewave warder and stun jack’s purifier
My all time favorite lightning build was my lightning nova vindicator. But it is very very very high end gear dependent as lightning nova does trash damage in ultimate. But fuck it is just so pretty to look at.
if pure caster means something wielding scepter/off-hand then maybe mage hunter with storm box, albrecht ray and flames of ignaffar. quite a lightning show but not sure bout endgame my MH is midway to l-cap ))
If you don’t mind running in circles, a storm totem/wind devil Shaman can be powerful and fun. You drop your spells and try to avoid taking damage while they kill the enemies. It pairs well with Inquisitor or Arcanist, Demolitionist isn’t bad either. You could maybe pick Occultist as secondary class for Curse of Frailty and Blood of Dreeg as well.
I also wonder what devotion path would be good? There is resist reduction from Rowan’s Crown and then several devotions with lightning.

if you have decent amount of weapon damage then Viper
Then you need to decide defensive or offensive.
