Need help with stormrend PS warder

Hi guys, recently I decided to dust off a character I had since before ashes of malmouth. A warder. I was going for a retaliation build but that changed after I saw stormrend drop.

Since I had a blueprint for ultos hood I decided to make a PS build, searched some here on the forums and finished levelling and the result was this https://www.grimtools.com/calc/lV7laQ6Z

After a run in bastion of chaos I got the impression I was taking heavy hits and decided to tune for more OA and DA and got this https://www.grimtools.com/calc/a2doya5N

Now my problem is that I think the second one lost a lot of damage due to lack of resistance reduction. I am wondering if someone could help me min max the build, either the first or the second. I have no forgotten gods augments because I still haven’t ran the expansion with this character but you can include those as eventually I’ll be able to buy them.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time on these.

No min maxing but I noticed that you had no flat RR (?) so I got the revenant (will also give you more AS and life steal) I also gave you more points in raging tempest and one more point in storm touch for some more AS. Finally more AS from squad tactics and some more oak skin https://www.grimtools.com/calc/M2gjbWEN

Thank you! The first build has elemental storm for flat reduction but I lost that trying to squeeze more DA and armor from the devotions and it shows ingame as it seemed I was hitting like a wet noodle in comparison. I will check it in game soon.

well it seems that the DA is fine in the GT link I provided  also freeze and slow can hurt you a bit too (since if you cant attack you cant steal life) so do not be shy in taking more decorated soldier and squad tactics. Wendigo totem I might skip actually

For freeze I usually go with a hoarfrost ointment if I see it coming  the problem is when I don’t! Why skip wendigo may I ask? I relly on it a fair bit for healing.

shouldn’t you have enough life steal to sustain? I would rather take war cry for some dmg red

I guess I’m afraid of dying. So you would sugest taking everything from the totem for warcry? With modifiers? Sorry to bother you, it’s just that I haven’t had a lot of fun in a while as I am with this build

Look at how the 2H warders are build, I do not recall any of them taking wendigo totem. Better to focus on getting CC resists like stun (which u have) freeze and slow unless you play crucible with blessings. Relying on pots is pretty akward for casual play imo  I use these boots now btw they are pretty good for the PS warder https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/8010

edit: build with them and no totem https://www.grimtools.com/calc/lV7lX9vZ

I think I have those boots somewhere… If not, time to farm for them I guess!

I guess I’m too used to wendigo since the game came out to be honest! Initially I had just one or two points but I had to invest in it a lot because the healing was getting lackluster. Thank you for helping me with this!

and if you change pants to something with more resistances, you can change augments in weapons and jewlrey for the ones with flat lightning dmg (and also change some armor augments) you can EASILY get 40% more wpn dmg doing this. Farm a good pair of Solael pants for instance (will also give you freeze res)

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4VxX8GbV

now I did not take any rolls on the pants so take it with a grain of salt - you would like to have something with chaos or pierce res. Then you can you can use Dreeg omen augments in armor for even more DA  I changed back to your original boot. So farm solael pants, its pretty easy and fast to do.

btw this is a nice ring https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9028 that gives flat rr and also skill disrupt resistances. You can roll skill disruption on the solael pants but that is rare as hell

I hadn’t considered green pants at all! I’m gonna farm for solael pants then. I have the boots you mentioned though. In your grimtools link, the pants themselves without any rolls plus the augments already make a lot of difference so I’d only imagine they’d get a lot more better with rolls! Really thanks a million!

I’ll keep the ring in mind then. Wich one of mine should I replace with it? That one I definetly do not have.

I would swap out coven storm seal.
I am playing this set-up myself now https://www.grimtools.com/calc/pZrgYEMN ( I do not have full ultos set yet since I resterted playing like 5 days ago lol, but still has lot of stuff already since the only thing I do these days is playing GD :stuck_out_tongue: )
the skill disrupt is kinda neat for me but perhaps you dont need it, just another nice defensive layer

Thank you for all the tips really! I just got lucky with ultos since I had the bluprint for the helm and the legendary transmutation is cheap! I’ll keep an eye for that ring just to have an extra option just in case

nice, well hope you got some ideas for improvment now

good luck and please ask again later if you need more ideas

Lots of ideas really! and your setup ir interesting. I’ll keep it in mind too! Again, thanks a bunch, you have really helped me!
