Ehy guys, new to the forums, played Grim Dawn before the expansions and back for more since two weeks ago. I’m in act 5 in ultimate with a spellbinder, gathered a few useful legendaries and traded for others, but basically I don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to optimization and devotion points. I’m using some ideas from other builds but now following any in particular. This is what I have at the moment: www.grimtools.com/calc/q2mKOXDZ
The concept of the build is aether damage, spamming calidor’s with part of the fire damage converted to aether and devastion as a nuke, with mark, mirror and siphon souls as defensive options. I use ravenous earth to proc arcane bomb. Point in cunning are for the dreadfire, will remove if something useful that uses spirit and converts fire shows up.
I’m not having too much trouble doing content, but some bosses wreck me and I can’t figure out how to make this build better. Any help is appreciated
As a CT spammer, those points in inferno aren’t really doing you any favors…I’d drop it to one point and then max out Devastation (dead things can’t kill you) and also pick up Boil Blood on the necromancer side, the damage will be almost non-existent but the -OA is like adding in an extra 150 DA which would help you a lot.
You can also drop Elemental Balance to 12/12 and the bottom row (except Fabric and Inner Fire) can be dropped down to 1 pt apiece as well.
Also I removed some excess spirit.
Something like this should make you more resilient. And also likely increase clear speed, boss nuking with Devastation is that good, keep it as close to 26/16 as possible!
Done. Will see how it goes, I’ll try and be back in a bit. Devastation is huge, I know! Loving this class so far. About getting more armor, is there something readily available? I can see myself changing the chest piece, the belt, the legs and the shoulders honestly.
I mean like buying from vendors I’m revered with all factions except for Malmouth, working on it.
I’ve tested a bit the build, WAAAAAAY better, boiling blood is insane, thanks guys. Now I need to improve gear and piloting, I tend to facetank too much.
Great choice of a character. Binders rule. If you don’t mind I’d like to chip in with a few suggestions for end game.
Next step would be getting Agrivix set and Wrath of Ascendant (or Agrivix amulet and book and Clairvoyant set instead). Farm mats to trade. IMHO farming sets the traditional way is straightup masochism. I think I got some of the above pieces so PM me if you wanna. I could also craft you the BiS relic: Agrivix’s Malice. Eternity is also widely used. Also, IMO switching to Star Pact is to be seriously considered at end game. You lose a lot of dmg on paper but better uptime of devastation makes up for some of it and it’s necessary to minimize the holes in the mirror-MoT-TD chaincast.
I don’t have any great advice regarding your build, but if you want to try a ranged spellbinder this is my spellbinder’s build. It goes all-in on PRM, turning all of its damage to aether and stacking up item mods for it while using all of the usual necromancer defensive skills to keep enemies from getting close. It’s quickly become one of my favorite builds.
