New casting system is terrible for ground target

Well, no longer can I strategically place any runes or ground AOE spells. When i click the location THAT IS WHERE I WANT TO PUT IT.

Now what happens is if that location is out of range my character just tosses it in that general direction. This might be fine for DD spells but for ground target spells that might require a little bit of strategy, such as mines, mortars, runes, sigils etc, this is a very bad change.

I wish there was a way we could turn it off :cry:

Does this option not work?

There is a way to turn it off in the options. Read the patch notes before you complain next time

It does work and that’s just one of the many ways the devs are smarter than me.

I think you have a good point though. The casting mechanic shouldn’t apply to ground targeted abilities, that makes no sense. It makes sense for line abilities like devouring swarm, or the like. But anything ground targeted, like you said, has specific positioning rather than ā€œI want to cast in this directionā€.
