I am almost done going through the story of AoM.
I will then have the 3 last areas that require a skeleton key to clear before i am completely done with the normal difficulty (steps of torment is cleared).
Now, my question concerns the bounties.
Is it worth taking time doing the bounties in normal difficulty or time should only be spent on these in ultimate difficulty.
I wanna know if i am wasting time doing them in normal difficulty or if i can receive good items out of them?
If i am not strong enough on the second difficulty level, is it a good way to farm items or is it better to only run areas like the steps of torment?
Bounties are worth taking if they’re an extra reward (xp, rep) for something you’d be doing anyway. So it’s worth checking what’s available at the start of a playing session, but you shouldn’t focus on bounties over normal questing. Rep rewards (positive and negative) will be much higher in elite and ultimate, so save any rep-farming until ultimate.
Can you receive good items from bounties - no. Just component pieces, and you’ll get far more from normal gameplay anyway. They do help indirectly by unlocking new tiers of faction gear, which can sometimes be helpful. Depends on the faction and character.
The premise of your third question is incorrect. If you can beat the Loghorrean in Veteran, you are strong enough to do Act 1 in Elite. The jump in difficulty between Act 4 of one difficulty and Act 1 of the next is just not that big (good game design by Crate there).
You mentioned the skeleton key dungeons - generally one doesn’t do these before Ultimate since the rewards are much better. It is worth exploring them once each at a lower difficulty just so you know what’s in there and can prepare better. But you can certainly start working your character through Elite, and come back to Veteran to do the dungeons later. Or just wait until level cap and do your first dungeon runs in Elite, which is what I did as I recall.
Do you mean that if i completed the steps of torment in normal difficulty, i can’t complete them again on other difficulties? Sorry, english ain’t my first language, i just want to make sure i understood you correctly.
Sorry, no, that’s not at all what I meant. Just that they cost a skeleton key (blood of chthon) to enter, so you should try to get the most out of each visit. Which means mostly doing them on Ultimate.
I may well be more frugal about expending resources than other players though.
Well, players can certainly suggest new bounties if they want to, whether the devs want to add any more to the ones they already have is another question. And since it’s likely Forgotten Gods will be the last big content rollout I’m not sure how many more updates there may be in future. They have said they may continue adding smaller content so I guess it’s possible, assuming they’d want to add a few more bounties.
