On my old PC, I saved the savefiles to an external hard disk, and when I put them in the appropriate directory, the game wouldn’t recognise anything. Cloud saving is disabled.
Did Crate change where the save files have to be? Since documents/my games/Grim Dawn won’t work, nor the steam/userdata/<number>/219990/remote directories let’s me use the save files I had previously.
As I said in the first post: cloud saving is disabled.
And for the age of the files, I last used them yesterday, and earliest save created was in december last year IIRC.
But I found them by making a character and just searching the harddisks for anything with that name. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier to be honest.
The characters thankfully show up now. If I couldn’t get them back, I probably would’ve quit, cause I would lose so much gear and grinding to find it again would’ve broken my will to play
not like I want to necro an old topic, but I had a similiar issue which almost drove me nuts. Using my office laptop to play when I communte with trains, I could not find my most recent savegames on the system. Later I found out it was saved in a remote folder of steam, but I could not zip the save files because of cisco security software (ridiculous), then I shut it down using the task manager and it worked just fine - not a fan of cloud saving, I don’t want to lose my saves.
