Probably true, at least with this particular beginner heh. I’m one of those individuals who goes right out and researches the (A/)RPG they just bought. Learn whatever I can about the classes and whatnot, plan my characters in advance - even if I’ll never actually get to the end-game goal; spending hours of my time before I ever really boot up the game >_>
Nothing wrong with planning and setting up goals 
But it is also this community to blaim, there are not really that many “true” beginner friendly build show offs here so that beginners have some idea to what could be expected in their first complete play-troughs.
Like my first level 100 dude, I died like 15 times with him before killing Master of flesh on ultimate and he had like 2 Mythical Legendaries on him, 3-4 mythical blues and rest just good selection of greens, basic components and not even augments in all items because I had not reached Revered for all Factions
