[Newb] Necromancer Lead From The Front build?

I’m new to Grim Dawn, and looking for a fun build that basically gives me an army, while I charge in with 2h. Is it possible? If so, what do you suggest? I don’t even know what attributes to invest in.

Also, if it isn’t possible. Do attributes do anything for pets? Or should I just invest in Spirit mostly?

EDIT: Not looking for a meta build. Just something that can hold its own at least.

I’d seriously consider Deathknight focused on Aether with the revenant constellation. I’m having a blast with it currently. (use shield though)

I’m certain someone will chime in with something better than that though.

first thing that came to mind was necro/shaman

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/

shaman can do pets and 2h stuff, necro has pet stuff and some attack modifiers if you wanna do that (although i feel its a waste of points, probably better off just investing in the 2h from shaman)

i only highlighted the stuff that relates to 2h/pets, figuring out what to put points in/how many is all you

the problem i think is that you’ll be splitting focus between so many skills. on normal mode it probably won’t matter much but as the game gets harder you might find yourself stretched too thin between keeping yourself relevant vs keeping pets relevant.

but if you just wanna play the game and level doing your own thing, and not worry too much about min max, it could be fun.

Currently leveling a Necro/Nightblade with pets similar to the the old Shaman/nightblade winter king build, we’ll see how it goes, soldier seems like a solid choice too.

i’m a beginner too and i’ve had the same idea as op. (i’m ritualist) but the problem is like S1gh said, we have too much to rely on, our 2H and our pet.

adding to that you run a lot of damage type. when 2H you usually take savagery maybe brute force. so physical, lightning, bleeding
and when necro minion, vitality aether (and poison but i’m not sure to go Blight fiend)

U will want devouring Swarm in shaman to lower the resistance of creatures, same goes spectral wrath from necromancer

It’s already a lot of point. a lot of damage type to add in stuff.

I’m currently trying a minion focused build, with Essence Drain as only attack, for the moment i’m not really fan because ED got low damage.and i’m not sure how work hungery Reach (i dont know if i can perma cast it to have the double target thing) and i’ not sur if Decomposition add damage.

if i were to link a Gtool it would be something like this http://www.grimtools.com/calc/bVAKDRND

I just add the first point of skill that interest me, i don’t know for the moment the skills i should max because it’s 6 skills to bind for fight (i count skelettons because they are a little squishy) and it’s a lot

maybe switch ED tree with bone harvest tree, because it’s a strong spell, but the 3s CD is maybe a little long because we have nothing to activate apart from dead minions or totem/swarm

if someone add something to change on what ive said fell free to do

I was looking at the bone tree, not entirely sure what the melee portion of that does. Kinda confusing in its description.

you say you are using deathknight with Aeather focus?

But in your profile you have a Necro/occulist.
