Newbie needs some advice

So I bought the game yesterday and I really like it so far, but im not sure which classes to pick. First of all I like both styles either melee or range but im kinda feel overwhelmed by all the skills and devotions etc. XD

So which class combos do you aedvice for a beginner ? Any special class which is easier at the start? I often think that I may pick the wrong skills altho I try to learn / read and go more deep into the stuff when I finally get a few days off of work

Would be cool if some1 could help me out a bit or just some info what I should pay attention in the first place when trying to build up a class. Thanks in advance !

Honestly, I’d just start some different characters and try stuff that looks cool for now. See what you like and what you don’t.

One thing to keep in mind: skill points can be refunded cheaply (from an NPC in Devil’s Crossing). Don’t be afraid to try different things. Something may sound good on paper but you don’t like it in practice and vice-versa. Experiment. Have fun. Mastery points, on the other hand (that move the bar along the bottom to unlock new skills) can not be refunded. You will want to put some points there to unlock new options and get attribute points, but no need to sprint up the tree unless you know you want something specific.

thx for the advice mate  I will just do as you say and try out different classes and try to figure out which suits me the most XD Is there any specfic level where it gets significally harder? I mean the start so far seems pretty easy (which I like, so I get more used to ) tho I bet It will get alot harder as I move on, just crurious when this will be, around level 30 / 40 / 50?

thanks again for your helpful thoughts!

I’m sure you can get some specific ideas if you like, there’s just so many cool things to try (as you noticed).

Normal is easy across the board for the most part (many aRPGs are). If you want a bit more challenge, tick the veteran radio box on the main menu (per character, and you can change it at any time). That will beef up mobs a bit and add more hero-class enemies. There are two more difficulty levels after you beat normal/veteran that make things much tougher. Elite can start in the 40s and take you up to ~70 or so (rough guideline). Ultimate runs up to 85.

Once you have a bit more idea what you are really enjoying, then you can check out build guides or start a new thread and say ā€œI like X and Y, how do those work togetherā€. Likewise, if you do start to struggle at some point, there are plenty of people that will be more than happy to take a look at what you are doing and how it might be improved (that’s how I’ve learned a lot of the ins and outs, by reading those kinds of threads).

By the way…since you mentioned you like both melee and ranged. One of the cool things about this game is that, because of the dual masteries, it is great for making hybrid characters—ones that do some melee and have ranged capabilities as well. Something to keep in mind going forward.
