Wierd I cant get life back with Trozan Skyshard if I have restless remains in my gloves
Why do some skills (that also have wpn dmg component) have skill specific adcth like Mythical Maw of despair helm
I’m talking about skills which have both WD and flat component, like Callidor’s tempest or Fire Strike.
ADCtH skill modifiers add addition life steal to their skills, it works with global ADCtH.
I’m pretty sure that adcth is specific to %wpn damage.
It will be fractionally scaled by the %wpn if %wpn is less than 100% and can not go over 100%.
For example:
The devotion Fiend’s Flame torrent has 20% wpn so adtch will be at 20% effectiveness.
Spells do not receive advantage from adcth unless they have a %wpn component.
^ah, but the inherent %wpn influences the %adcth ratio or limit for the flat, I think.
For example, if 20%wpn = 20% from the flat x adcth.
That’s what I thought. The % ADctH heal/leech is reduced to the % weapon damage the skill has (though I would assume that it then heals off the entire skill). So Flames of Ignafar with 9% weapon damage (ie, lvl 1) & 4% ADctH would leech 4% x 9% (0.36%) of all hits.
Edit: Mind you, the game guide implies something quite different:
Percent of Attack Damage Converted to Health is a form of life steal available in Grim Dawn. It functions differently depending on whether you find it on equipment or on a skill. When on equipment, life steal applies only to your weapon attacks. If you use a skill with % Weapon Damage, that component of the skill benefit from the life steal. In either case, only the direct damage is considered for life steal.
Which to me, means that only the % weapon damage component of a skill has ADctH, so with the Flames of Ignaffar above, only the 9% weapon damage would leech, not 9% of the 4% ADctH of the entire skill damage.
My current FoI has 13% weapon damage (23-64) & 55-110 chaos damage, with 4% ADctH, I would only leech 4% of the 23-64 (average of 1.74 life leeched per hit), not 0.52% (13% x 4%) of the entire skill (23-64 & 55-110, which works would to ~0.66 life per hit).
Ok example.
I have Panetti dmg 12k aether, and 25% global adcth. I also have the medal that adds 20% wpn dmg to Panetti.
I should then steal back… how much?
25% of 12k = 3k
20% of 25% of 12k = 600
I have recorded some gameplay and by watching it in slowmotion it seems that my actual heal per hit is about 500.
Yes, it works like this, but enemies also have resistance to life leech.
Though that affects % health reduction attacks (such as Bloody Pox & Doom Bolt).
Boss/heroes have these resist types:
%Reduction to Current Health = resists %health reduction
%Life Leech = resists life leech
