Newer player Community experience

Hello all, not ranting or anything but trying to point thing out.

The first point I would like to point out is how area just follow player level kinda into the mid/higher term.
Warden go at least level 50 as this is were he is at now which might be the max level of the area so I probly can complete the Perdition set for exemple (3 out of 5 item already) by farming there.

But what about those level 25 for exemple (missing 1 piece of Maiven) that would be cool to be able to build toward secondary and later toon as starting gear but with the map following the player to level 50 it get kinda hard to farm starting gear or to just complete set for the fun of it.

Also as a community situation the game seem to be at a point were every regular player / forum member are just farming better roll on Legendary or super precise Rare item which leave the newcommer “lower player nation” out by itself. This translate to newer guy looking for “small” stuff being ignore (why waste my time on stupid crappy epic when I farm 20 legendary every night)

It also translate on couple of thing in term of answer or even “Build Post” were everything is related to level 85 and slang / end gear item are used.

Nothing about the leveling, what is what, how to play, devotion explanation (man I still can’t seem to understand what damn thing is where) I even have no idea what BiS mean. This make it hard to learn or to decide which path to follow from the information avaiable.

I guess those are my 0.03$. The game is super fun, the experience of leveling and building your toon seem good but the state of the game right now is fully toward level 85 Ultimate with near-perfect gear.
Still unsure if it is because the game is build toward that kind of behavior and the “road there” is just a stupid obstacle or if it is just the current game situation.

Yes, there should definitely be a Newbie thread with a glossary, common leveling strategies for each mastery, etc. The old titanquest.net forums used to have a “Poina’s Guide to All Skills” that I found tremenously useful. It also had a guide describing each boss with what resistances to max, etc. Build guides described setups for the end of Epic instead of the end of Legendary.

I think these things will come in time, especially after the expansion is released. Things can change significantly with every patch which means documentation can get out of date very quickly. In fact it was only a few weeks ago that something as fundamental as the Elixir of Spirit was changed.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and if you are, use the search function and tools like grimcalc and graceful dusk.

Rest assured the developers know only a fraction of players ever make it to Ultimate. They enjoy playing a meta game of whack-a-mole with the most elite players here, but that is not the extent of their activities. I’m sure they have the newbie in mind as well.

I love that idea of the “Poina’s Guide to all skill” having an information place with glossary (mostly slang in my case it is new word from the game itself and a 2nd langage in itself that may hide stuff I’m not aware of) and a kind of guide to level area (which place max at what point) and how to build to finish Epic. For boss information I guess it is not something I would personally look into. I’m more interested in having information for what I build and how/where to find stuff rather than what I face as this is part of the learning experience.

At this point if I want to build up gear for a 2nd character leveling the community won’t be of help. Trading thread will see my post ignored (like I said why waste time and space with stupid epic when you farm 20 legendary each night) and thus I know if I want to get Epic Set (for the fun of it and to have gear to look ahead of time for future build) I will need to learn which area max at which point and what is the best level to have item drop from certain level. (Should I farm an area at the level the item I want is or couple of level higher for exemple and were can I find those area considering end of Act 1 is at least level 50 in Normal)

I will have to check what is the graceful dusk you are speaking about.

Honestly I’m of those that will make it into Ultimate and that will min/max a couple of characters. But I’m also gonna play a toon with my gf (far more casual than myself) which might see the end of Elite but will never farm Ultimate or Nemesis of any kind. The other toon I have currently started is to play with a friend of mine. The time frame we can catch each other is pretty limited so it goes slowly but we are having fun and in the long term we have good chance of trying to at least kill those nemesis.

Gonna post later (probly tonight) about the different char I have / gonna run and see what kind of information I might get.

A) Main Character is an Occultist around DEE. Still in search of a 2nd Mastery and an understandable Devotion build (a road and an attach guide mostly probably?)

B) 2nd Character is a PRM Arcanist I’m speaking about in another post. I’m playing as a team with an Occultist/Shaman (gonna run toward the Pokemon Trainer build). We are only level 15 as of now and personally thinking of going Demolitionist as the 2nd Mastery for the debuff. Sound like a good idea? Once again Devotion is still pretty hard stuff to grasp.

C) My girlfriend just started a Shaman. We will need to keep it SIMPLE (LB - RB and 1-2 skill (+any Active/Toggle)). I still don’t know what I will play with her so a very simple Shaman/??? build for my girlfriend and something that would work nicely with it.

So yeah those are the 3 (4) characters alive on my side and what are my current questionning about them. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Also…what about farming specific item?

I would love to complete the Maiven Set (I can craft the Amulet and I have 2 Tome) or even the Maraudeurs Set (I own both gun). They are level 25-26 so were the hell should I go. My character as of now is officially 47 so for the stuff to farm at level 50 (I might have gotten lucky and got 3 piece of Perdition) there is still a whole lot of place and I feel like the Warden MAX at that place (so he will always be an option I guess for that kind of level)
