Devotions in Order of getting (not including corssroad respeccing): Viper, Hawk, Scholar’s Light, Empty Throne, Hydra, Tortoise, Kraken, Ulzuins Torch (6 left over)
The idea is to start by dropping a flash bang or two on enemies and walking in swinging an explosive striked weapon (no ranged as being in the thick of it is more fun).
Most everything else is passives to boost the strikes, more explosiveness, or necessary defenses.
So other than general build advice I have a few questions.
Would it be best to dual wield or two hand with this build? Or does a sword and board build work better?
I had originally considered Callidors Tempest over explosive strike. But the energy costs seemed a bit extreme and I felt that a lot of other abilities (like vindictive flame) would just go to waste if I never got hit just lightning novaing people down. However is this really a concern?
And lastly I built my devotions to get ulzuin’s torch but I do have a few left. Should I try for more resists?
Lastly, what kind of gear should I be looking for?
Right I see that now. Grimcalc doesn’t have the orange text on it from my end. So need to redo the devotions. Those are the hardest to deal with right now especially since the one good tool for it is somewhat incomplete. As far as starting the game currently I’m getting through elite on a primal strike warder.
I’m not necessarily set on sorcerer though I do like the interesting stuff it gives me and seems to synergize at least a little bit.
Your grim calc is a bit all over the place. You cannot use both “Star Pact” and “Reckless Power” at the same time as they’re exclusive skills. Only one and then the other or rotate between the 2 (which I wouldn’t recommend).
Explosive Strike does not have AoE in melee range. With the correct devotions you can still give it AoE.
It’s never recommended to max Mental Alacrity and in your particular build this would only benefit “Empowered Lightning Nova”.
Maxing Maiven’s is fine but I still feel you’re going to suffer a lot from a lack of armour and DA. You may still need to climb further up the demo branch for a few stat points.
Other than that, I’m actually considering making a melee sorcerer as well. But the reality is a “Druid” is more versatile and has higher synergies. Let’s pretend you just went with Aether+Lightning. A tonne of devotions cater for this and Shaman has WPS skills for 2-handers and some nice HP bonuses. If you opted for Aether+Fire and went sorcerer. You’re pretty much stuck with one devotion. You got no WPS skills (except those granted by items). It’s just not well suited.
