Hello I been really getting into the pet classes of grim dawn lately and i am trying a ritualist right now. I was thinking a build something like this https://www.grimtools.com/calc/L2Jzx7R2 and was looking for advice on anything to change to make it better.
Like for ritualist i was wondering if the totems are worth getting since they don’t scale to pet bonus? I was liking the wind totem but i am on the fence getting it. Thank you in advance!!
Well looks like i can’t post the grim tools link dang
ok added the link now
That is not a build. That is just a bunch of skills you have chosen. And that devotion choice is not going to work for a pet build.
First things first, start with a theme. Then try to look for items that fit into that theme. Then comes skills & devotions. Then the finishing touches.
Uhh ok maybe this comunity isn’t friendly like i first thought…sorry was just looking for advice
I wasn’t being rude…
There is just nothing to go on with.
Atleast tell us what kind of a build you have in mind and I could try to make one for you.
oh alright maybe i just don’t understand builds in this game yet. I was thinking something like the pets do most of the work with me in the side lines and maybe proc something like sheperads call and other things to buff the pets? i am only lvl 40 so still learning everything
Look up a few pet builds in the build compendium: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79419
Also, see in this thread for theorycrafting with the upcoming expansion in mind: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81387
Either way, more than 50% of any build is items. They can drastically alter your build.
Then for the skill choices, you need to find the ones that work together and focus on those. Kind of like cooking.
As for the devotions, your choices are all over the place. Again, you need to choose carefully and only those needed by your build.
It is not as simple as picking all the pet skills and profit
I think his point was that items are an incredibly important part of builds in Grim Dawn, and you can’t really consider skill choice independently of them. What items you use are also important when selecting devotions, because you often need to use devotions to make up for resistances you’re lacking.
Generally speaking, for pet builds you can’t really just max every pet and expect to succeed. You typically focus on one or two different pets, build your items around those, and spend the rest of your skill points on various support skills.
Cabalists and Conjurers tend to be easier to play and itemize than Ritualists. If you’re new to the game, those might be better options.
As for your selected devotions, a couple of things to note:
[ul][li]Things that say “XX Reduced target’s Resistances” do not stack with eachother. Things that say “-X% resistance” do stack. That means Acid Spray and Elemental Storm don’t stack.[/li]
[li]The pets from “Raise the Dead” scale with player bonuses, not pet bonuses. [/li]
[li]If you’re newer to the game, the Nature’s Guardian celestial power is probably the best thing you can use on a pet build. It helps keep monsters attacking your pets instead of you, which does a lot to help keep you alive.[/li]
[/ul]
Oh really? I honestly had no idea thank you are those builds up to date any? Few Builds i found seem to be from 2017 and i was wondering if they would work now since the game has updated a bit since then. i will look at the thoerycrafting too and see if i understand any of it lol thanks again
Oooh ok so been looking at it all wrong then…Guess i need to study up on items then! Ok i will look at the other two classes too thank you
Man i don’t know what to do with this ritualist i made lol doesn’t seem to be many pet builds
I don’t know how many of those builds could be considered up to date as I mostly limit to playing conjurers. I suspect most are waiting till the expansion hits.
Also, what Siggy said. Speaking of whom, he probably also has a Ritualist build lined up for when the expansion hits. So you can wait until then
Or… something to work with during the wait, from me: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/D2p4Oo12
(I don’t really play Ritualists, so my knowledge on them is kind of limited)
Maya I found one of your buids for conj but i was wondering it says its for gladiator Crucible. Are these type of builds viable for just the regular game as i imagine i am probly not ready for this crucible till i learn more of the game. i like this build cause it gives me an idea how to start off and has a bit of a guide to follow
Gladiator Crucible is harder than the Main Campaign (minus Superbosses). So anything that can do Glad Crucible reliably should breeze through the campaign.
(Yes, all my builds breeze through the campaign :D)
But just to be on the safe side, which build exactly? some are outdated and some, I have updated for FG.
it would be this one [Pet] [1.0.7.1] (c-) (g1) The Lazy puppy - Beginner / Budget Pet Conjurer (Maya)
Yeah, that one still works, but there is an updated version for FG. You can find it here: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=700569&postcount=3
Also give this a read: http://grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80181
A lot of useful info in there^
What do you expect? That people hold your hand and give you gifts?
If you are new to the game, don’t expect to do gladiator crucible like in one week of playing Have real expectations, this is a grindy game
Well here is my simple Ritualist build with 2 pets and other small guys. The fun is the dmg for pets come from player stats so you can build yourself into killing machine while pets still deal a nice amount of dmg. It is tanky and can clear any content in campaign. But still need more posts to post link.
Just this one and i ll throw a link.
