I just killed the Act IV last boss in necropolis. I noticed im not in Bastion of Chaos… is that right?
Yeah. BoC is an optional area like the Steps of Torment or, if you’ve discovered it, Port Valbury.
You have killed Loghorrean, the Voice of Ch’thon correct?
he is the last boss in the main quest
Bastion of Chaos is a “rogue like dungeon” like Steps of Torment and Port Valbury
you enter BoC by repairing the bridge in the north of the necropolis and opening the “Chthonic gate” with a skeleton key
got it thanks guys. im 52, still not yet on elite lol. trying to get my last devotion shrine.
You might want to save your skeleton key for Ultimate level though. Not worth using it at Normal and Elite levels. You can just farm the rest of the area outside the gated dungeon to gain experience and kill some heroes to level up faster.
I think it’s worth it to run thru it once, personally. I don’t see the point in saving your keys tho… they aren’t exactly hard to craft more.

1 Blood of Ch’thon
1 Corpse Dust
1 Ecotplasm
Pretty easy
On a first playthrough it might take a while before completing Ultimate challenge dungeons is likely. The keys might be best used to help gear up in Elite instead. If it is worth saving in the first place.
You don’t need a skeleton key to access BOC’s shrine
I am not sure you are more likely to complete it on Elite the first time around than you would have been on Normal…
Sorry, but I really don’t understand you here, if the dungeon is available in a difficulty that isn’t ultimate then it’s not an ultimate challenge dungeon.
There are various challenge dungeons on each difficulty and there’s no dungeons that I’m aware of that are only for ultimate that can be accessed on lower difficulties. If the dungeon exists in a difficulty then it’s MEANT to be cleared on THAT difficulty and there will be harder versions on the higher difficulties.
Well there is Edge of Reality which is Ultimate only
The idea is that you actually might need to farm a little on Elite before you’re prepared for Ultimate, not that the dungeon will be easier to finish in Elite. My experience of the Normal to Elite transition suggests this isn’t necessary there. Of course I only played through on a blank slate once - I could be wrong. It might or might not make much difference either way. I doubt if I would have brought it up had someone not done so before me.
I capitalized the “u” of ultimate in that sentence because I was referring to a specific thing in the terminology of Grim Dawn - ultimate difficulty - not the everyday concept of “ultimate.”
They smoothed out leveling in normal / veteran and the one shot dungeons aren’t really that hard unless you have 0 resists which is almost impossible…I’m usually anywhere from 55-60 after I finish veteran and I do ALL quests…including the one shot dungeon quests…and I also fully clear one shot dungeons when I go in for xp and lootz.
