Not viable to create a lightning/aether melee character?

I was toying with Grimtool trying to come up with a good build for lightning/aether melee character but after trying for sometime it feels like it is not really possible to make one.

There are so little skills and talents that can support a lightning/aether melee character, I can see that most of the damage I do comes from lightning and the only 1 source of aether damage (Callidor Tempest) is dealing part of its damage in fire damage making the having bad synergy with a lightning/aether build.

It seems like it is just not possible to create a build that utilize both damage type effectively.

Can anyone share their build and some tips for lightning/aether melee character?

Something this obscure would require very specific gear to work past Act 1 Ultimate. I’m sure you could leg it by leaning on Aether-heavy gear and using Haunt and Devastation to supplement your damage, but I can’t think of any skills that would benefit from both Lightning and Aether.

Why not just go with an Aether/Fire melee build?

Because Fire is far lamer than Lightning.

Lightning is clearly Shaman…Considering this part going 2H make more sense

Add Temporal Archblade as a Weapon

Either find some way to add Aether Damage via another Mastery/Devotion or do just like I think it is Chthon did and add bunch of Chaos Damage (thanks to Occultist Mastery which also give AS super important for 2H Melee) and conversion Chaos to Aether (Albretch Duality ring)

I have 3 Aether Lightning Builds in total - The Conjurer one is the only one I can suggest.

The rest of them aren’t exactly well supported, even the Aetherstorm build is technically pure lightning build that is too much dependent on devastation

The expansion seems to be nice and all but I find the lack of speed bonuses in the new masteries bothersome.:undecided:

That is a lot of gear to make the build work and so far I have… 1 AD ring.

Guess I have to put the plan on hold until I manage to get more relevant gear.

I wish we can get a class that is capable of utilizing both damage in the expansion but that is not happening unless there is another class coming later down the road. Call it Warpbender or something I will be so on board with that class.

Or just wait till the expansion hits

Not sure if any class will have major support for Aether Lightning melee but we do have Storm Box of Elgoth, not sure how strong a skill it is though. At the end of the day Aether Lightning is something that’d definitely be gear dependent (imo)

Most oddball or unorthodox builds require more gear than those that don’t but I wouldn’t say that’s the case here. At a minimum, the build requires 1 or 2 Albrecht’s Dualities to create a source of Aether damage. The rest can be made up with Rare or Epic gear.

That is 1 reason, another one is because I already started a commando to use Shar’Zul’s Worldeater (http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7208) and the Justice set I found.

I have an aether/elemental battlemage, and most of the elemental damage is lightening. Idk if it’s quite what you’re looking for but the build revolves around temporal arcblade, iksandra’s unity set (minus the offhand), agrivix’s malice, and cadence with discord. It’s extremely tanky and can take ultimate nemesis bosses with ease, the dps is decent but nothing special, probably caps out around 100k. Usually takes me around 2 min to finish a nemesis boss.
