on fence to buying crucible

Hi all,
looking for your opinion for someone on fence buying crucible DLC (or wait expansion) that has:

  • one to three char on ultimate, able to get at least 1 legendary per session (30-90mins)
  • already loads of epic items (legit self found transfer stashes)
  • a dozen chars lvl 15-45

so , is crucible a good time saver for legendary farming compared to ultimate twin falls / undercity farm / epic nemesis? (iirc legendary sets / bis items dont drop or super low chance in twin falls)

is crucible a good time saver to carry your char from lvl 1-5 to lvl 50 and beyond compared to main game?

if the answer to these 2 Q’s are positive, it is a solid buy in my opinion

PS: what if your inventory full , can u teleport to town from arena? or cant (like in alkamos room or BoC) ?

Arena has everyone you look for in a town such as spirit guide, smuggler stash lover , salvage dealer etc

Do you have people to play with in MP? Are you looking for this type of gameplay mode? Have you watched people play it on twitch? Do you have 5$? Do you feel that you vastly underpaid for the main game and want to support the devs?

Time-saver for legendary farming?

Well, that is highly dependent on how good your char performs.
Once you have beaten the 130th wave, you get a checkpoint and so you can resume at this wave for your current session.
For ‘farming’ purpose, victory on the final 150th wave is what you want, because that’s when your chances of getting more than one legendary are the best (challenger/gladiator difficulty)

a good time saver to carry your char from lvl 1-5 to lvl 50?

Again, it’s hard to tell, because that will depend on what char you level and how good it is with early skills.

HOWEVER, it is a real time saver for early and easy DEVOTION points, you just repeat the first set of waves and then turn your ‘tributes’ (currency earned for completing waves) into devotion points.

Anyway, once you have a character ‘planned’ and a stash full of BiS, it only takes arround 20ish to 25ish hours to an experienced player to reach lvl85 ultimate, mostly rushing quests.
I still haven’t tried to do this in crucible.

I don’t know about levelling, but it’s great for farming legendaries. I play on Aspirant level, restart at a checkpoint and then play with more spawns (you ask the master or whatever he’s called if he can do better). Wave 130-150 takes less than 10 mins and you get a minimum of 1 legendary, but most frequently, you get 2 or 3. I once got 5. Also, the chests drop hearts/blood/brains as well as chipped claws and ectoplasms (and other mats) so it’s a comprehensive farming environment. I play with my Dreeg’s Evil Eye warlock and I take Empyrion’s Blessing for additional HPs.

Edit:
Oh, and it’s great fun and it doesn’t cost much, so just get it. You won’t regret it.

Edit2:
Ok, I tried it with a new character and the leveling-up is unbelievably fast. Also, you can max your devotions in a few hours at the most. Now how’s that for a head start for a character?

Edit3:
Devotion points become progressively more expensive so it’s not so easy to max them out as I initially thought. Still, it’s quicker than in the campaign.

I say it’s worth it just for something different to do. If it’s still on sale the Crucible is less than a pack of cigarettes.

Why is this aggresive attitude? He has every right to question and relieve himself from his worries before he purchases something even it is a small fee. Money is not easily earned no matter how much it is. His questions are quite understandable.

Those were merely questions that I feel if someone answers yes to one or more, justify the purchase.

You do not want to see me aggressive and trust me, there was no aggression there whatsoever. Sorry if anyone else misuderstood me. I was merely posting my reasons to have the Crucible.

I didn’t see any aggression, just questions designed to help the poster make their own decision on whether or not to buy something, in this case the Crucible DLC.

I think Jiaco is posing some of the main questions that most people would ask and enjoy if they said yes, hes not trying to be aggesive, just helpfull

Sorry for misunderstanding. I was probably fed up with crap in my work and directed that crap energy on my brain processing for “attitutes”. You can delete my comment since i can see it in a clear way. Forgive me

Thank you for all the replies.
Really, The question isnt : is it worth $5, end game content, play mp, etc
I could no longer play 8hrs non stop a day, but playing 1hr 1-3times a day still possible.
New char Reaching lvl 85 n beat ultimate log may take 35-50hrs for me, and im too easily distracted to dedicate 4 weekends playing main campaign

The price is so low by any standards, that you shouldn’t be asking.
If you like it, it’s money well spent.
If you dislike it, it’s nothing to worry about.

I can imagine the way you buy a pair of trainers…or a new car

The crucible is a fun but repetitive-by-nature game mode. For 5 bucks, you’ll get a pretty decent value out of it. If you only have about 1h or so a day to play then the crucible is pretty ideal for that as it’s more fun in short bursts rather than playing it for several hours at once.

Hmm yeah I still haven’t decided if I want this. Maybe once I get some characters up to max level and end of Ultimate. My concern is outleveling main game content by participating in Crucible. I already switched from using Veteran for this reason alone.

Money isn’t the problem since I already bought two copies (Steam first and recently GoG) so I can play offline, but mainly because Grim Dawn is still a bargain at $45. That’s 3/4 the price of the P.O.S. that is D3. OK I never bought that; my brother got the deluxe package or whatever and forced me to use one of his accounts. I still say the best things he got from that were the Diablo head doll and soul shard USB.

So are folks running into the problem of leveling up too high (either from Veteran or Crucible) to get drops while completing the main campaign?
