Is GrimTools displaying the correct % drop chance for the level 94 version? Or is the item drop chance bugged in-game?
Just for my own curiosity, I often mark down how many attempts I take to get a specific item and I am currently on 331 kills over the last week (and yes it’s Nemesis and Ultimate) and I currently have one Outcast’s HOOD. ONE. For an item that supposedly has 9% drop chance. IIRC, it took me ~66-70 kills to get Sharzul’s Worldeater for example, which is a 2% drop chance and about the same to get the Deathstalker recipe. RNG is not perfect, I know, but this item just seems to take the piss.
Took me over 126 tries to get a fucking Soulrend once. With 2 different characters, the other character was about 53 tries, a total of 179 tries.
I won’t even tell how many times I had to try to get Alkamos’ ring set. I stopped counting after 336, and still took me 6 days of 2 hours of farming every day. I assume about 1500 tries, although idgaf how many tries it actually was, since fuck you, RNG.
Please don’t forget that RNG is applied fresh each and every time, thus each time is a fresh 9% chance of it dropping.
This doesn’t ever mean that after 100 goes you should have 9 drop. The 9% chance is the same at the 1st attempt as it is at the 400th attempt. RNG doesn’t increase the more times you attempt something.
That definitely seems unlikely after over 300 runs, but yeah sometimes stuff takes forever to drop. I still haven’t seen either of Alkamos’ cold rings but he dropped two Soulrends in a row for me.
Back to op question. In this particular instance drop rates suggested by gt are EXTREMELY LIKELY to be inaccurate. If the Secret is 6% and the Hood is 9% you should be getting 3 hoods per 2 Secrets on the average. Now, I’ve farmed it twice. First time I dropped 8 Hoods before I hit the Secret. Second time I gave up after dropping over a dozen hoods. Similar proportions were noted by two of my friends. Now, chances of a something happening over 5 times (8/1.5) more often that it should during 4 random periods in a row (me twice and those two dudes) - this seems to be beyond variance. But then again nothing is beyond variance.
