Pet beginner friendly build for a newcomer

Hello, im always fascinated by pet builds in any type of arpg so i tend to play summoner/necromancer quite often. So i wanted to get back in to the game but its been a good 6-8months since the last time i played so im not sure what works and what doesnt work. Id prefer playing with necromancer and follow a build/tips where i get my gear from scratch(i dont have any gear saved from previous play). Ive looked at some builds with cabalist but the havent been updated in months so im unsure how relevant they are.

I appreciate any help i can get!

Sometimes you need to check if a build has been updated. This one has.

Pet builds can be pretty gear specific though. Early game looks for times that boost pets.

Oh thank you!
I though pet builds were beginner friendly haha. Do you recommend something else for a beginner?

Hey, rabbit, check mine out :Skeleton Cabalist :p:p:p:p

There are some beginner friendly builds around.

Thank you for your suggestions! Ill look them up and please feel free to keep up with the suggestions.

They are all viable even with the later patches right?

I found this build; http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65761&page=2 is it still viable and good for newcomers you think? sounds like alot of fun

Leveling with pet builds - especially if you’re starting out from scratch and don’t have equipment lying around - can be a pain, and it doesn’t let up near the end either as enemies can get really nasty when you reach Ultimate. All pet builds ultimately require very specific gear in order for them to succeed at the level you’re looking for, and most of the pet builds posted here use green items with very specific prefixes and suffixes in order for their build concept to succeed.

I will plug Superfluff’s Guardian of Death’s Gate Ritualist pet build (Sneaky Parrot has a near-identical Ritualist as well), as Devouring Swarm is one of the best early-game skills in the game, so if you can’t find any gear worth getting for pets, you can rely on Devouring Swarm Vitality for as long as you need. You can use the opportunity to poke Superfluff to get him to reveal his guide and ask him about what do you when you don’t have the green items he uses in his guide.

Ritualist has the benefit of having two incredibly good Exclusive skills, so you can swap between one and the other depending on what gear you have. In addition, there’s an 3-piece Epic set for pet Ritualists that drops fairly often.

I know right?:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Just a fyi - skeleton based builds tend to be very beginner friendly - pet items aren’t anywhere near as rare as they used to be and summon skeletons scale really well with auras (like from components, or deathchill or mortality relics) so they tend to be easy to get killing effectively.

Still 100% viable, still quite easy to gear and level up, still good for the very first char

So ive decided to actually give cabalist a try and im trying something on my own however i have lost of skill points left to add. However i dont know where to add them really.

I added a couple of devotions but im terribly bad with them, i looked alot of cabalist devoitions but the builds are quite versatile that its hard for me to know what to do haha.

This is what ive come up with so far: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/0V0PlBMV
Feel free to change it up for a better fit, especially devotion-wise. Id like for my dmg to be good, and im willing to sacrifice a little of my own survivability for it. I used to play GD but thats in the past and im only going for SC so no HC for me, i like to keep my character for sentimental reasons haha.
