I have never played a pet build, but I thought I might mess around with one while I wait for Forgotten Gods.

I going to build around Familiar and I don’t need build advice, but I’m wondering if there are “pet control” tips out there. Should I put them aggressive, how frequently should I use the pet attack command (it seems like it interrupts their attacks sometimes), etc. It seems like the familiar’s movements are kind of funky.

Also, how does CR work with pet abilities? Does it reduce them at all?

Yes, put them on aggressive.

In case of familiars, you only need to use the pet attack command to make sure all of their projectiles hit the same target. Otherwise you can ignore it for the most part.

CDR does not work for pet abilities afaik.

You can also use pet attack to keep your pets running along in front of you and if you have a group of mobs and want to get all the pets to concentrate on a single target hold pet attack on the required target and all the pets will attack that single target.
