PETITION!!! - Save Harvey The Drifter!

Here’s a concept:
-first we insult his son, which of course makes Harvey attack us
-instead of fighting back we kite him all the way to DC (must repair Burrwitch Outskirts bridge for this to work)
-in DC he gets trapped by Sahdinas wards
-we return to his “home” and are able to pick up legendary offhand “Harvey Jr.”

Way better quest then Zantai’s last hidden secret :^)

Don’t see why you need to repair the bridge to kite him to town, and I still think the Coven is a better suited home for him due to their understanding of the mind and psyche.

But kiting him to a place would be neat. Can be even more convoluted than that if need be. BUT, my good sir, the teddy has a name. It’s Harry, Harvey’s son.

Well now we need to be able to dual wield off-hands… so after visiting Uroboruuk’s granddaughter Lisa, and Harvey… we can equip both Mona and Harry.

+1 to this.

Well, again twice in the game you send perfect strangers through rift gates, and one of those is a couple of scammers, so how did they received those with welcom hands?

Yes I always feel disatisfied with this encounter
I don’t mind if he doesn’t want help; I just dont like killing the poor sod:cry:

You can talk you way out of it, so that he doesn’t attack you.

You can’t make him go into the flooded passage now can you?

ever been to ugdenbog’s coven?

He can look after Oscar and Jane with Judith. Or giving him a romance script with Sybil Hart.

Or trap an aetherial in it and name him Ted the Chucky.

We’d never do that the a cute teddy. This petition is a pure quest of divine righteousness.

I am reviving this old thread.

This is my final frontier.

For those that don’t know, Harvey the Drifter is the old, mentally ill guy in the Burrwitch Estates. If you try to help him, he gets spooked and attacks you. His story is very sad, he clutches a doll he believes to be his son.

Your choices are either to leave him there forever, or kill him.

It is difficult for me to accept after braving both the scorching desert of the Korvan Basin, the frozen mountains of Asterkarn, slaying demonic eldritch beings, and even defeating the avatars of Gods, that we cannot save him or give him a better life somewhere.

It would be incredible if there was a secret quest-line to do so.

I have suggested maybe the way to do so be related to intervening in the bullying of the little girl in the Malmouth Sewers. Maybe she gives you a toy that you can give to Harvey to trust you.

Maybe we have to talk to some of the crazy Dreeg people to better understand how to approach him. I like the idea of it involving an NPC from every DLC.

I understand some people feel he’s doing just fine on his own, but his supplies or whatever means he’s using to get by surely can’t last forever, and additionally there’s gotta be a better place for him.

Maybe saving him could reward a secret offhand legendary that looks like a toy. But even if it awarded nothing, I would be so happy just knowing we’ve brought this old NPC to a better place.

I think the concept itself is touching, that our player character, in all his or her adventures, never forgets Harvey, never stops thinking about how to save him too. A hero that refuses to leave anyone behind if he or she can help it.

This would truly be the closure of a great circle in Grim Dawn. He was the first NPC we could not save, so perhaps with the final expansion, now we can. Please.

Maybe Kymon’s Chosen was right… :pensive:

Who’s to say that he isn’t saved’?

Seems to me he’s safe where he’s at and seems fine with it.

You risk the possibility he goes totally insane and I’m not sure that’s a good ending. Especially as that’s a possible ending and you end up killing him.

Think of Harvey as being happy where he’s at.

Read his dialogue options; this is absolutely not a happy man.

there is a super duper obscure ultra secret hidden quest with Harvey and his survival

What it entails is that you,
Kill the aetherials in Burrwitch, kill Krieg
Establish allies, DC, Homestead etc, and a line of supply
Deal with the invasion, and beef up the army to begin coping with remnants.
If you do all of this before 4 ingame days have passed, Harvey’s source of muck water and stale untouched meals wont expire or infect him with lethal degree of dysentery

Joking aside, i kinda think it’s cool Harvey is the even starker “no player control” to Nicoh, - “war doesn’t always have neat outcomes”
But if there was some sorta elaborate secret option to atleast drop off some Ulgrim soup or lay down a minefield outside his porch to keep him safe, wouldn’t be something i’d be against either :slightly_smiling_face:

I’d also be fine with having some people drop off food for him from time to time. Logistically, though, it would be a waste of resources.

But yeah, maybe we just personally bring him some supplies and imply that we’ll keep doing so in the future. Even that would be satisfactory.

Supplies for the Legion? Nay
Supplies to Homestead? Nope nope
Supplies to Harvey

Plenty of other tragic stories. Katrine and Larria always come to mind. Harvey’s barely registers on my grim-o-meter. When I even care to talk to him, I save him by putting him out of his misery. And that’s the only mercy killing available in the game.

I do have a sentimental connection to him though. When I first played Grim Dawn, back when GT didn’t exist yet and everyone was pretty much feeling their way through the game, Harvey was the character that taught me about secrets. I sort of guessed GD would also have secret areas. but Harvey confirmed it.

So I did what any good gamer does and started clicking on walls…

Harvey should have a MI drop like how Skinner does so we have a reason to kill him every playthrough
