Now that makes sense. This can somewhat be exploited, specially when you are using Primal Instinct relic, the swarmlings do a roadblock and then murder the enemy while it’s trying to get to you.
Probably the only two enemies that can somewhat ignore this are Fabius and Iron Maiden because Shadow Strike and Blitz.
Alkamos, Loxmere, the Warden (he has range attacks and will charge you no matter what, if you got aggro), Log wont move at all, and there are more bosses with range attacks like Salazar, Lucius and that little sweetheart at Fort Ikon
I only can tell what killed MY last summoner Lox Elite, Alk ult on the first attempt, Lucius struck me down with his athereal hammer of doom, and im not sure, but I think the Witch, too. Didnt have the idea to go hunt fabius or Maiden with that aggro break dance, not really even when equipping the prepared legit BiS gear. In Multiplayer I met one or two guys who had this gear already, everyone else was struggling HARD.
Again, if you WANTED active, you would NOT be playing a pure summoner. We have hybrid summoners, and player bonus pets… We HAVE builds that are active, and have pets. What we DO NOT have? A build that is just pets, and isn’t active… Like an ACTUAL summoner.
If you want Summoners to suddenly stop being “boring, non active builds”… Then you want them to stop being a Summoner. In lore, games of the past, and in solid game mechanics… Summoners summon things. That’s it. That’s all the actual Summoner DOES, is summon a thing, to do a thing. Usually a monster of some kind, to kill some other monster. The actual Summoner doesn’t do crap after summoning, they just watch their summon do whatever they summoned it to do. That’s how it GOES. That pattern has run through literature and gaming for many years now. It’s not broken, why on earth change it when people like it as it is?
If you want pets, and to be active… We’ve GOT that. if you find pure summoners boring, play something else. Don’t try to push to remove summoners from being what they are, “boring”, mostly-inactive builds, just because you don’t enjoy doing that. I do, others have stated the same throughout the forums and elsewhere… Leave my “boring” play style alone, please.
Oh, there are games where you just summon and do nothing else? I`d be interested to that list of broken games where people just have to point the mouse and walk through the game. While I understand its quite comfortable, I dont get you wrong
There are games where that is AN option for Summoners. Many, in fact. It doesn’t make the game “broken” because it offers an option you dislike. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean others aren’t allowed to enjoy it, nor does it mean you should be trying to get it changed to fit your preference.
It’s a really simple “live and let live” policy. Allowing summoners to have the playstyle I enjoy does not stop you from doing what you want. If you want a hybrid summoner, or a regular build with player pets… Go ahead, IDGAF, it’s your choice. I can respect it, and even enjoy that kind of thing myself. I’d appreciate it if you could do the same.
No, the thing is you seem not to respect that others have ideas and give feedback. But we all seem to agree that the aggro is a problem that could be polished Another thing is that it would be too op if it would simply work like it does with fixed aggro. I`ve never seen that lazy playstyle pet summon thing anywhere else though…
Edit: By all means Im trying to be constructive. Not just saying it sucks, and I dont expect everyone (like you) to like it. They will maybe not even read it, or they dont care, who knows.
I respect feedback when the feedback isn’t “scrap the idea, remake it to something entirely different”. The point of pure summoning is that you just summon. All of your suggestions directly contradicted that. Your suggestion to improve summoners was for them to not BE summoners. It’s hard to respect that. “Let’s make X better! We’ll turn it into Y!”
I think you misunderstood that a bit. First of all summoners in GD are not pure summoners as you already said and it was ridiculous op to play in the beta for a while. Yep it was I dont want to turn summoners into something else. They are already casting spells nonstop. Little minority may play like you do. I respect that, but I dont think its healthy for the game.
Summoners could go different ways, from super active, but with summons doing stuff, you know. Some could be like this, others could be more like you want to play it - but there must be something to add, so we dont get the lazy OPness what we already had and which was disliked probably not only by the devs so they nerfed it.
The example I posted was a summoner which is using stuff like the druid does things in D2 a little bit and a bit of Age of Conan (The spellcaster has to stand still but can cast big time)…maybe just a bit wierd and a placeholder for every golden spell the PETs could perform instead.
If you would like to be lazy you could just pick the raven, the dog, the tree, walk around and kill stuff like you already do. But with the difference they could do things that are fun for others, too.
Why not adding an “autoattack” mod (green 1 point thing) to weaken this or that then to keep a balance.
Im pretty sure devs wont go this route too much effort I guess.
Summoner is class , who call pets to fight for them , but WTF ! why we must move a round , move circle when our pets still alive !?

And final , we not do anything ( not buFF or debuFF ) but creeps and boss still targetting us . Are you understand , dont bla bla bla about OP or not . We still talking about what is Summoner . If we need to use skill , we not choice summon class LOL
