Over the last few patches, elemental builds have received decent buffs with Crab and Hyrian devotions being pretty good finally. With Hydra max movespeed change and new inquisitor seal transmuter, I was thrilled to try out my old elemental inquisitors.
The main thing is, elemental inquisitor builds always have a hard time making use of the flat pierce damage they get from Arcane Empowerment and Ranged Expertise (for ranged).
Unless you play dual Bargoll’s Heart on Infiltrator, flat pierce almost always goes to waste. Sure there’s the Luminari set, but that doesn’t help melee builds, 2h builds and the conversion from medal was even moved to full set bonus a while ago.
Other pierce to elemental conversion available includes mainly
- Hyrian’s Shield, which is good but only played on DoT builds so useless here
- Spelldrinker, only good on niche ignaffar and (ironically) rune builds
Build samples:
- 2h ranged elemental apostate with Runebinder crossbow Apostate, Level 100 (GD 1.2.0.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
- 2h melee elemental apostate with Fleshwarped Shard and Reaping Strike: Apostate, Level 100 (GD 1.2.0.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
Suggestions:
- Add pierce to elemental conversion to Spectral Binding mod on Mark of the Shadow Queen. This will help elemental apostate tremendously (Arcane Empowerment, Ranged Expertise, even Bone Harvest)
- Add global pierce to elemental conversion on Runebinder crossbow. If my memory serves me right, there used to be a pierce resist debuff on the full set and it’s now gone, no one is ever gonna play this set as pierce (also you need conduit to play pierce runes soooo…)
- Add pierce to elemental conversion on Ugdenbog Arcaneweaver.
