Hm…
In my opinion, Crate has done a good enough job making the important skills stand out from one another. So some auto procs share icons, animations, effects, etc etc… There are also PLENTY of skills that stand out and are easy to identify. But the glass will always be half empty for some people…
grava is not really new to the team, he was there at the start of GD but choose a different path but got back to the group later (which was a smart move)
It’s not my job to test every skill. I only do feedback on what I like, don’t. Testing, making sure everything works as expected is DEVs job. Having unique effects, icons makes them all easy to identify. Having no such thing messes everything, unabling to identify what works and what not. Seriously, I never knew that what differs Indie game from AAA is having quality you expect, as simple as skill icons and distinguishable effects to each other, that you can differentiate between each other, not blind guess if it works or not and when
Here’s the problem with your argument, you keep emphasizing that it is simple work. But I’d like to ask you do you have any real experience with this stuff? At the end of the day the most expensive resource these things consume is time. And that time can always be spent elsewhere making something more relevant much better or better yet making new content
Also, I am not sure if you noticed but skills do have names. You don’t identify them with icons but rather with names., I don’t see why anyone would need to do blind guessing.
Was it GD who had some devs leave for another project called Prey for the Gods (which Bethesda decided to sue for the most idiotic of reasons)?
I am pretty sure some of these have different animations…
http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42547&highlight=prey+gods you mean that?
a friend / colleague of arthur / medierra he contributed some ideas for GD
Ah yeah, that one
That one, it’s called Praey for the Gods now (thanks ZeniMax)
It would be nice if they all had icons and animations, but there really is not all that much missing. Some reuse the same icon (not that I would remember which is which for all of them anyway) and few have no animation.
Most of your problem however seems to be that you pay no attention whatsoever, because most of the skills you mentioned by name very clearly do have different animations…
There are no problems with my argument. Every skill must have their own icon, effects, that can be identified as “different” and work as expected or else it’s not there. PERIOD. This is not AAA feature, this is expected quality to any type of game that want to be successful and continue to grow. When you play the game actively, skill name doesn’t matter, it matters only when you build your build, what matters is that you experience it visually and with audio in the game, as expected
Then they need to introduce mechanic where people can force test every skill individually, independent of trigger conditions
No, they must not. That’s an expectation that YOU have deemed necessary. Crate has decided that the skills do work as expected, so now what? Also, the little “blue icons” you refer to are simply showing that a devotion skill has been bound to your active/passive skill. In the same manner that components showed a little ‘+’ in Titan Quest when added to weapons and armor instead of the component’s icon. The icons are not as big of a deal as you seem to think they should be. You can argue it until you’re blue in the face but I wouldn’t expect it to change for a very long time, if at all. One guy unanimously deciding that Crate needs to focus their attention on one minor detail doesn’t mean their attention will be immediately turned to that minor detail. The best thing you can do is compile a list of skills you think need to be worked on and why. Then, drop it in the suggestion thread and if the devs agree with you, it’ll go into their to-do-list and be done at some point.
The OP has stated their idea and feedback. Pretty much end of story.
It has been my experience that Crate will take that feedback and decide if it merits being done. If not, then they wont.
Based on Zantai’s post, it seems unlikely that this request will be incorporated into the game.
Not sure what else needs to be said.
My GD forum experience suggests that the continued course, i.e. the argumentative nature, of the thread will result in the thread being closed.
Can’t imagine it’d be hard to do this with the available modding tools
Wow, at least one person gets it. Others looks like trolls that just want to continue arguing about what is better apples or oranges…
Perhaps it is only my imagination but do the animations of Reflective Enemies really look like as monsters captured in Entangling Vines?
More than once I attacked an enemy thinking it was entangled but it wasn´t. But maybe I was only not paying attention.
While the base skill templates are limited, the effects are more or less distinguishable. For example Shadow Strike, Spectral Strike and Chaos Strike all use the same template but they can be distinguished by their colors/animation
Can you name such a skill that is causing you this confusion?
So disagreeing with your opinion is trolling? Noted
Actually the OP didn’t post it here, I reported it to get it moved and eis did it. He initially posted it in the bugs section and tried to justify why it needed to be there.
Everything that straight relates to original topic feedback has already been said, no need to force me to repeat myself. Making false conclusions and forcing them on someone is considered trolling. I am not here to show whose dick is bigger, I am to make feedback about the issue that is bothering me for a long while. It’s not cool to have tasty cake with tiny pieces of shit. Yes, you like the cake, but those tiny pieces of shit (bugs, issues, underdeveloped features) makes you hate it every time you bite the cake, even if you so much like the cake overall
No they do not need to. This is pure nonsense.
I would have said that about adding animations too, the only problem could be how many free slots there are
