Please help refine my Vindicator

Hi, all.

This is my very first build that I brought to lv 100, finally decided to go to the forum to ask for help. I have finished the Ashes of Malmouth campaign with little difficulty especially after I respec and geared for the full build. Yet I know that there are tons of content that I still need to find, and lots of nemesis to hunt down. This is where my build starts to lag. So far I can only defeat Ben and Moo. Other nemesis owned me, and I can do nothing against Mad Queen. Please help refine my build. Here is the grimtools link: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/DV9rvDWZ.

To describe the build, I would say that this build was conceived as a modification of Squib’s build here.

The main features of this build, that shape my playstyle, are:

  • Options for CC: Stun (Primal Strike, SoH dev), Slow (Vine, Belt, Revenant dev), Fear (Boots)
  • High resistance against CC, up to ~50% against Slow, Trap, Freeze and Stun. I run a lot; if ever a mob catch me flat-footed, I’m dead.
  • High Crit Damage, up to 106%
  • Lots of procs to augment DPS: Reckless Tempest, Tsunami, Falcon Swoop (dev), FH and SS (WPS)
  • High ADCTH, up to 41% with Bloodthirster on.
  • Word of Renewal; sometimes I use it as a permabuff (especially in Ugdenbog and Void areas), other times I use it as the Oh Shoot button (especially against bosses).

My scorecard DPS is 76k and can go up to 113k with all buffs firing. The greatest damage done was 196k, but I guess the peak doesn’t happen very often.

As you may see, my greatest grief with this build is the relatively low health and DA. Without a circuit-breaker, I died a lot against shotgun damage. And an over-reliance on crit damage and CC made me vulnerable against lots of nemesis dan bosses, where I cannot crit and monsters are highly resistant to CC. Oh, and those charging monsters, this build is horrible against them. I could kill Moo the Nemesis but not Meric the Charger in the Cronley’s Hideout.

Any and all advice will be welcome.

Greetings astralgazer,

By moving around some Skill Points & component’s/augment’s as well as a slight devotion swap (changed 5 points to allow for “Solemn Watcher”) you can to put together something like this - https://www.grimtools.com/calc/r2BkE8KV

Pro’s

  • Higher health pool (12.6k)
  • Higher Armor Absorbtion (92%)
  • Higher Armor Total (2k)
  • Higher DA total (2.7k)

Con’s

  • Requires 100% up-time on Word of Renewal (to keep Aether/Chaos resist’s capped)
  • Low Physical resist (7%)

Although i purposely didn’t change any of the gear selection’s around as idk what all you have available. :stuck_out_tongue: It might not be the most optimized but should hopefully help you out some with survival.

The benefit’s of standing inside “Inquisitor’s Seal” & “Wendigo Totem” buff aura’s combined should be very nice defense/sustain boost to hopefully let you kite a little less perhaps.

Here you go

It has pretty nutty dps and can faceroll anything in Campaigh except Ravager. Grava is the only guy you will have to kite and shoot. It’s my Vindicator pretty much, so it’s field tested.

That is a nice Vindicator, although you could get a very large upgrade from even a middle of the road quality Kymon’s Badge.

Woohoo. Nice. Glad I asked. Honestly I have one Tactician, soon to be lv 100 with Inquisitor Seal; but I never once thought about combining IS and WT. This build will take a lot more frantic button mashing, but it certainly is nicer than mine. Thanks a lot.

I have pretty much all the gears necessary for your build (Pyroclasm Mark I can craft, and the solael-sect leg I can farm for), except the Runeguard boot. Any suggestion as to alternative?

Your build is a radical change for mine, but your devotion setup is very nice. I will take your points on this setup. Thanks a ton!
