Procs, DoTs and ADCTH

Hey guys,

so I’ve been giving more love to my witch hunter and I got to wondering about this topic. My witch hunter is being designed to stack a bunch of poison DoTs with acid retaliation. So I am wondering if I am getting ADCTH off of my DoTs and my procs? I also use blade barrier and I was wondering whether my retaliation damage from my acid is counted when an enemy hits the barrier? I should clarify, I am using devotions and components to give ADCTH, not asking if just hitting the blade barrier applies this effect.

Further to ADCTH if an ability like on soul thief says that it procs off of default weapon attacks this ability will not proc off of fire strike right?

Anything with % weapon damage should give you the ADCTH you get from items/devotions. However, I’m fairly certain there aren’t any % weapon damage DoTs, so you’d only be potentially getting it from procs.

It should. Fire Strike, Savagery, Cadence, Shard of Beronath, Troll Rage, and obviously your basic attack count as default weapon attacks. I used two Soulthiefs for a while on my dual-wield cadence Battlemage and they procced all the time.

Don’t know about the retaliation with Blade Barrier, though.

ADCTH only counts weapon damage. If the skill says % weapon damage, you will heal off of that damage alone. The only exception to this is skills that list their own ADCTH, usually vitality spells, and that ADCTH applies to that entire spell and nothing else.

Weapon damage can have any damage type, but DoT damage types (poison, bleed, etc) dont count for ADCTH. For example, Merciless Repertoire adds lots poison Weapon Damage, but you dont get any ADCTH from that poison.

So if I have a shaman with two weapons with ADCTH on them and I use devouring swarm, the swarm doesn’t get bonus conversion to health because of the weapons, right?

Devouring Swarm has no weapon damage, meaning the flat ADCTH on the weapons will do nothing when you use it. Devouring Swarm itself has built in ADCTH and you’ll be healed by the damage it deals itself.
