Question about Wendigo Totem

As per topic, what does the totem do? Mend wounds is a HoT and Lifetap is a Vitality-based DoT?

I’ve started a Warder, on Veteran, and I’m having so much difficulty staying on my feet. I have 3-4pts in both the totem and Blood Pact and it’s not really helping me.

I’m running as Savagery with 10pts in the base skill and Storm Touched and my dps is abysmal. I realize most recommend leveling with Primal Strike, but I didn’t realize it’d be this bad. I’m using the AoE of a Cracked Lodestone more than anything else. Any tips for getting through the early levels?

Thanks!

I cannot help you with the totem question for I have never used it, although I plan on finally getting to that point within a few hours.

For what you seem to be doing, max the base Savagery skill and Storm Touched.

For survivability Heart of the Wild in the Mogdrogen’s Pact line will increase your maximum HP as will Military Conditioning; if you are using a two-handed weapon or a shield max Menhir’s Will. Also, stick close to the totem.

Post your build with Grim Calc and people will be able to help you more.

Hope this helps.

I’m currently level 24 (no assigned devotions): http://grimcalc.com/build/1006-FXUDia

I’m hoping to stick to sword/board. Maybe grab lightning totem on my next level-up. I don’t want to have to turn down the difficulty, hence the Lodestone in hopes of a little more teeth on the build.

Thoughts?

I just used Wendigo Totem. I love that skill now. A series of mini-heals while you are damaged. It’s great. I haven’t used Storm Totem before but it seems quite good because it affects several targets.

The only thing I notice here is you have a lot of skills with only one point in them which works for some skills (like Fighting Spirit, although the trigger chance is low) but not others. I would suggest maxing (in no particular order):

Heart of the Wild: It increases your maximum HP and helps against poison and bleed. At 10/10 it is +34% HP.
Menhir’s Will: It will become much more effective and the cooldown will decrease. Combined with Heart of the Wild and Military Conditioning the % healing it does equals a much larger number of HP.
Savagery: This will increase your damage and the way I see it if it is the skill you use the most, it should be as effective as it can be.
Storm Touched: To me, the electrocute DoT and attack speed are worth it.

A good one pointer would be Blitz because while it may not be as effective as it would be with more points I think it is worth the mobility provided by it.

For Devotions you may consider building into the Behemoth which grants plenty of health and health regeneration and / or Tempest which is great for lightning damage. A good one to start with might be Tsunami (it will get you some more “teeth”).

Remember you are level 24 and still have lots of space to grow!
