Question on damage conversion.

I was wondering what would happen if I used the transmute for Flame Torrent (converting 100% of Fire to Chaos, & 100% of Lightning to Vitality) & then used a Lifeblaze Mantle (Legendary shoulders which converts 20% of Fire to Vitality), would I get effectively 120% of Fire damage as something else, or would the 120% get adjusted to 100% & keep the same ratio as 100% & 20%? Also, if it is adjusted, is there some sort of priority system, like Transmutes have priority over item conversions or such.

Still trying to learn as much of the mechanics as possible, though most of what I know right now is what each stat is & does. Was wanting to know before I tried something stupid on a new character & make a huge mistake in not getting full cheese of what I think I can do. Because everyone loves cheese, riiight? :stuck_out_tongue:

Conversion only happens once and transmuters on skills are the first in the conversion line. Transmuters on skills only affect the skill directly and not anything else. In Flames of Ignaffar, the transmuter converts all its fire to chaos and all of its lightning to vitality.

Conversion like in Lifeblaze is a global conversion that affects every skill with those damage types. Meaning if you pick the transmuter in Flames of Ignaffar, the conversion in Lifeblaze will do nothing to the fire in this skill because global conversion comes after transmuter conversion.

Thanks. One other question though, for the cheese factor. Does damage conversion happen before or after damage scaling of a damage type being converted? i.e., would Hellfire’s %Fire damage & Eldritch Spirit’s %Elemental damage actually increase the Flames of Ignaffar Flame Torrent? Or would only the %Chaos damage of Hellfire & Solael’s Witchfire be the only things that affect it after you use Flames of Ignaffar?

As far as i know, the % damage modifiers of the converted damage type will only affect that damage type. Increasing the % damage modifier of the damage type that will be converted will not increase the damage of the converted damage type.

Thanks for helping me clarify this. I’m still trying to figure out just how many mechanics I need to relearn after playing mostly PoE. I guess Crate can afford to be a lot more liberal with putting a whole lot of damage conversion in thier game if the original damage isn’t scaled first, which is why GGG only have conversion go one way, with no way to loop back on itself.
