I’m in Act 2 of my first Elite playthrough as an Infiltrator. My build focuses on cold/pierce damage. I’m not following a pre-made build but I’ve experimented with several different skill investments to try out different things.
One of my main questions is how much OA/DA should I be aiming for while leveling through Elite? Right now I’m about 1500 OA and 1700 DA with buffs up. Enemies are dying very quickly but it feels like when I do take hits I’m having half my health bar removed with each blow. I’ve got nearly 9k health and have tried to keep my armor rating up as much as possible.
If I’m killing enemies very quickly, should I drop offense for defense until things feel better? I guess I’m just wondering how dangerous enemies should feel in Elite since this is my first time playing at that difficulty.
No one cares about how much OA/DA you should have in normal/elite/ultimate/till level 94. The only moment we care about them is when we’re getting our final items or finishing our builds, so after level 93. The minimum values have been already discussed multiple times, for a caster, at least 2500 DA, melee, 2600 - 2800 DA, tank(y) 2900+, OA for all characters is 2700+.
As for all other cases, just try to stack them as much as possible, you’re level 50 and have 2k OA/DA? Cool! I always aim to have enough OA to crit when I am leveling, I don’t care about resists or DA till ultimate and I’ve never had issues with that. If you want to have stable DA, aim for at least 90% hit chance from monsters.

I think I might have picked a non-tanky class combination from the outset so that might be contributing to the damage spikes. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all the gearing mechanics.
What class are you playing?
Do you mean that was kinda aggressive? I didn’t mean to be like this tbh, it sometimes happens.
