A raid camp warning pops up at 30 squares from the camp but not the towers. Tower range is 17 squares but arrows from the tower can reach 18. To build a fence around the entire structure requires a distance of 20 squares from the towers and the centre of the camps.
Villagers are stupid and will run straight to the camps if there is cut wood to gather. Others will attempt to retrieve the bodies and add to the death toll.
