Range on skillsecondary effects

Hi guys, i have a lot of trouble getting skillsecondary or skill_modifiers to work correctly on a weaponpool_basicattack skill.
i am trying to add a debuffing/ damaging aoe under enemy hit with fire strike which affects all following enemies as long as the effect persists.

i tried adding a projectileaoe effect and visual to explosive strike, but whenever i manage to get it working, the effect always spawns right in front of my character rather than the enemy the projectile hit.

the same problem exists for pets that i spawn with the skill, they spawn beside my character and not on the hit enemy and then walk over to them.

i have found no option to manage the range for these skills and targetoptions have no effect at all.

any idea how to solve this?

my last idea is to have invisible pets channel a skill once they reach the first enemy, but that is very slow and i have no experience with pet ai so far, so this is a last resort kind of idea
