That’s depend on what you want to do with PS. Untransmuted PS ? Go Vindicator with Rakajax crossbow+Light defender set. Transmuted PS? Its realy lack-luster=)
I recommend vindicator or Conjurer. Transmuted PS is possible but you need spcific gear to stack %crit dmg up to and over 300%.
I want to use transmuted PS (auto attack), maybe demo as second class?
Demmo can work too but Occult and Inquis are better quality of life.
For better QoL you probably would be better off not picking Primal Strike at all
Do you think it’s not viable? There are some nice ranged weapons
and shaman can get massive RR with wind devil (35), arcane bomb (35),
ele storm (32) and ultos (25) + maybe firemines (40).
I think that PS is good damage when overcapped + massive RR + spam wind devil and storm totem for extra damage?
He is trolling me and being semi-serious:p. The secret to primal strike is %crit dmg. Up to 300%. Don’t give up.
If you want rr i’d pick CoF over mines as mines could be super tedious for this build.
Also inquis would give so much crit dmg tht makes uo for everything. PS+Stormbox/tether could be fun
I’d pick Savagery over Primal Strike
-Torrent doesn’t affect main target
-Doesn’t work with WPS (R.I.P Storm Spread Torrent)
-From what I’ve heard they changed the way Torrent interacts with 100% Piercing weapons and made it so that “unlimited” torrent isn’t possible
Don’t get me wrong, it is viable. There’s some cute toys to support it (Crit route seems decent). In fact before the last patch they tried to shove Primal Strike down our throats by giving no ranged weapon Savagery support, even now PS Ranged has the most support

300% may look good ,but savagery alredy has 100%+(up to 150% with storm touched) Then you loose 8%phyz res, 120OA, 90DA , 15 iAS from Savagery stuff. And you loose Feral hunger and a lot of ADCTH from it. And you loose inquisitor WPS.
Yes, Primal Strike overall is just too weak. Transmuter takes too much damage from it, AoE is too small (except for torrent, but it deals puny damage due to very low % Weapon Damage on it), and it’s attack still. Just compare it to Forcewave - Forcewave has much higher AoE, higher damage (cause it uses melee 2-h weapon for ranged skill), bonus to crit, less energy cost, and it well-supported by gear. Oh, and it’s SPELL, so it is unaffected by “fumble/impaired aim”.
I’m aware of Savagery power. I already tried both in vanilla for crucible full Ultos. In the end i picked Savagery Ultos Conjurer and Druid cause PS was shit vs Nemses. Drizzto even posted one such druid with video.
But now in Aom i’m more optimistic and bound to try provided i find a good Sparkthrower.
Vindicator PS / SB+Thether or Conjurer.
Edit: Also about Raka build. That is not for transmuted PS. It’s CD PS electrocute DoT stack.
@MK: AoE is not too small ( before or after myth ultos axe) PS deleted mobs in vanilla. It was only crap vs bosses
For so bad damage VS bosses, Primal Strike should have much higher AoE. Something like +2 to radius by default, or Torrent having ~75-100% Weapon Damage.
And i was talking about ranged PS, actually.
I am not sure why they don’t want to add Torrent to single target if anything it makes Primal Strike
As someone who runs an ABB Pistol build where I could very well use Beronath and call it a day I can understand the motivation to make Primal Strike work
With all the crit support it should work imo. My biggest gripe with it is that Torrent hits only a limited number of targets, the AoE of Primal Strike isn’t high enough to singe praises of it either.
As you say the skill will work, but my point is they should buff it. And I don’t mean simply through skill mods I mean the actual skill could use some buffs. Technically speaking it is the only true Lightning LMB skill in the game thanks to its cool sfx, even Savagery can’t take that away from it
As MortalKombat pointed out PS could use more AoE and Torrent’s damage is way too low
When you compare Savagery + PS Untransmuted with Shadow Strike + ABB you can see the latter is much more used combination in builds as ABB’s modifier is very useful to builds. PS on the other hand despite the cute crit mods isn’t even remotely useful as a nuker to support Savagery.

Probably its better to abandon the current transmuter, buff PS to be a real nuke and make a new transmuter for torrent. Like on default Torrent apply to main target, but with transmuter it get +50% WD but dosent work on main target ? And the number of targets should be increased to 12 at 22/12
I’m almost quite certain crate would sooner buff transmuter rather than make torrent apply to main target
And if they would somehow do this(i’d be very surprised) then they would nerf transmuter or PS mods on gear…guaranteed

I don’t have your luck with MIs this time fluff, my luck seems to have dried up in vanilla game
Ugdenbog Rifles have 0.00% drop chance, I have seen more Stonehide Dreeg pants than rifles
I always read RR is king in grim dawn.
So crit damage/OA is more important?!
