Reasonably powerful builds

I wanna try the S&B aether death knight by EIO AU, but the video is down. Can anyone help me with how to achieve this build?

Could you post a guide on how to build your aether DK? I am really interested.

GD Stash

:stuck_out_tongue:

Ayyyeee

It’s not really a unique idea. Aether DK is pretty easy to build. Hardly deserving of a guide. Level as phys, farm the krieg’s pieces, and go have some fun before it gets nerfed.

I can assure you if I were using GDStash to build the char I wouldn’t be using a level 84 cronley’s ring with double magic affixes and a non-mythic chains of oleron.

What’s the best build to kill AoM nemesis without much trouble?

Just teasing you, bud.

I experienced something like that! A single Fabius just shadow striked me out of nowhere for about 15k hp in one hit. I survived this hit just to be dead half of a second later because I couldn’t react fast enough and heal.
What can I say? Ouch

Author deleted video, idk why.
Short guide: you level up as a soldier, main skills are Cadence and Blitz. So you max Cadence asap first, then some mastery points, then Blitz. Better to play with 2-hand weapon, but you can take a shield if you struggle. In necromancer you put 15 points in mastery and take Spectral binding and especially spectral wrath for that physical resist. After all that don’t forget to take War cry and Break morale. Soldier passives are very useful too, so is Menhir’s will (few points there).
In devotions first of all take Assasin’s Blade and bind its proc to Cadence - it significantly raises your damage. Then make your path to Oleron for more physical damage.
Try to stack some +physical damage on gear.
You respec into the aether build only on level 94, after you you have made a few dozens runs on Krieg in Ashes of Malmouth and found all his set.
That’s about it. Good luck! Hope I could help.

ALL these builds swallow all nemesis in the campaign. They can deal with 3 nemesis at once being under nasty debuffs (this is what they were made for, this is what awaits on crucible level 150). In AoM only GravaThul and Kubacabra are slighly stronger then vanilla nemesis, but they were not a problem even before patch and now they are nerfed and posess no threat.
Shielded builds are generally more durable.
If you want less gear-dependant I usually recommend builds 2 and 5 in melee section.

A build I finished recently. Or not really finished since it can still get better weapons when I win the lottery, but it can already farm Glad reliably with the life buff and also beat big L.

In the grimtools in the build I have a 70/30 ratio for Phys/Cunning to break 4k effective OA with Deadly Aim on, but I’m very familiar with the build and the melee NB playstyle in general.
If you’re just testing the build I recommend putting everything in Phys instead since the Cunning is just a luxury.

Between DW gunner tactician by JoV and Two-hand burning commando (blitz version) by Pyroscar , which one is easier gearing?

Seems good. I’ll put it in my queue for testing.

In the end to farm gladiator crucible they both need exactly that legendary weapons. However, much less gear dependancy for campaign. I’d go for commando, because gunner needs physical pistols with high attack speed all the time, so it’s not easy to make upgrades for weapons and commando on leveling stage just picks up any two-hander with betters dps.
But it is just my opinion, my advice is to write privite messages to both authors and ask them how easy is leveling stage with their builds.

Do any of these builds use aura of censure (inquisitor -rr exclusive)?

Conviction is a better choise for anyone exept CDR Magehunter.

That’s pretty much been my conclusion, that it was pretty awful as a skill. Was just wondering if anyone had been able to get it to be useful

Hi there and first, thanks a lot for the job you’re doing, for a newer player like me, these threads are pure gold, because i always took a big bunch of time before starting another char, watching if the build i want to make is strong enough etc.
I am at work atm so sorry for my bad english.
I discovered the game a month ago, and i got a blast with all pistols/rifles/crossbows . My goal atm would be to make a lot of different toons with rifles/guns/crossbows with different classes, but since i don’t know by heart ALL the spells and the classes i would like to hear some advices and some feedbacks about players who already tried some build with guns.

I only made one build yet, a 2H fire Strike purifier, i finished the “normal” game and malmouth recently in ultimate, i farmed a lot of BoC SoT etc to gear up, a lot of nemesis farm etc, and wanna try something else now since i dropped some sweet legs and epics, and also because i feel my build won’t be able to make very super taugh heroes like Queen, Lokaar, or even BoC/SoT bosses without a cautious fight.

So my question would be simple in fact, i am not looking for the TOP ONE rifle/crossbow/gunslinger build (but why not :D) , but just if there is any good end game build using these weapons ? I am not afraid to make a very gear dependent one btw, i already checked a lot a got some ideas, but this thread is like the perfect answer for it i guess :).
I don’t mind the class, the damage source, or even be a necromancer with a rifle/guns/crossbow, it could be fun, it is not a problem at all. Just trying to get some clues about all the rifles/guns classes and build, because anymay i am planning to play a ranged build for almost each damage source.

Would like to try something different than mine (Desolator 2H Fire strike, using a lot of RR, OA/DA debuff with cocktail/flash and a part of ulzuin set) but still powerfull enough to invest some time since i aim lvl 100 and ultimate farming at the minimum (i don’t have crucible DLC) . I already took a look at the DW gunner tactician by JoV and the Dracarris Incarnate - Pet/Fire Hybrid Pyromancer, but i wanna know if there are something else in the build database who might work well and be a bit different that my purifier on a first step, if not, these two are already really interesting anyway, but some 2H aether/Acid/Vita/bleed/pierce range build could really interest me too :p.

Sorry, i know i always make long posts, but i am not a native speaker, so i tend to explain a lot to be as clear as possible.
Thanks for your work and good game :).

Hey all
Could someone take a look at this build i have in my head for a while now. its a cadence/forcewave warder. Im currently lvling a hardcore character so its highly defensive.

So if you guys that have played some of these builds to their full potential had to pick just one for each of the following, what would it be? :

  1. Fastest Gladiator clear
  2. Safest Gladiator clear (speed not considered)
  3. Least gear dependant clear (I guess all can farm their own gear before starting Glad. though)
  4. Easiest to play to it’s full potential
  5. Your own favorite - for whatever reason, obviously personal preference being the main criteria, but it’s interesting to hear what peoples personal preferences are.

And a personal question:

I only started playing a couple of weeks ago and only beat Log on normal/vet so far a couple of times. Not gone to Elite. But personally I’ve found some form of caster Necromancer or Shaman to be the easiest to go through Normal with, and for me also the most fun. I’m not very keen on melee, although I beat Log very easily with a crappy 2h forcewave, I just found it boring.

I keep hearing how Vitality Conjurer is amazing as a first build, but I’ve yet to see one updated for AoM I think? Is it not that good any more? Would Vitality Ritualist caster be any good? Cause that kind of hits two of my favorite classes so far. I like the idea of Devouring + Totems + Rav. Earth., but I’m not sure it would work endgame?

I kind of like the look of the Cabalist build by THT, but I’m kind of put off by the fact that you call it melee. Can I play it as a pure caster instead? I don’t really see any melee skills in it?

  1. Aether DK using Krieg’s Set is probably the least gear-dependant, because you can farm Krieg’s set relatively easily (without Crucible), and it drops even in Elite. It can be nominated to safest/easiest play as well.

If you want powerful caster Cabalist build, you should play vitality-based Drain Essense.

No. Many of them are not elemental builds in the first place and others have better options.

I am very sorry to dissappoint you, but gun and rifle-based builds in Grim Dawn are weker than melee and casters by far. You can see for yoursself how many builds are there is my melee, shooter and casters sections, that pretty much describes the situation with guns.
Here is what I can offer you:

  1. JoV’s gunner - 100% shooter, you shoot’em all to death with 2 pistols.
  2. Build 12 in caster section - vitality cabalist. In is not a raw shooter, but it uses a pistol and fires it when not casting spells.
  3. Build 8 in caster section. This is not technically a shooter, but he uses a pistol and casts a multiple-projectile spell that make you feel like a bowman.

That’s all powerful builds with guns I can offer. See the videos of gameplay, maybe you’ll like something.
Hope it helps.

This is pretty much build 3 in melee section - forcewave tactician. You just use shaman instead of inquisitor for supplemental mastery. The core stays the same - octavius set.
I can confirm this is a strong build concept, however I like the tactician version more because of inquisitor seal which provides enormous durability. Also, I like tactician’s devotion choice better.
