Reasonably powerful builds

So what I think I’m hearing is “It depends on the build, but most you can replace the greens with more obtainable options. The times will suffer, but almost none of them rely on double rare MIs enough to make them nonviable.”
Am I hearing right?

It is impossible to get double rare weapon with right affixes legitimately. Most notable Ugdenbog/Loxmere daggers, Krilian mace`s etc.
Armor slots are different, with heavy crucible action you will get a bunch of good shoulders/pants in 300-400 hours. By the time you find all blueprints you should have a lot of good greens to gear even spellbreacker.

You can always replace amy/medal sloth with res-heavy placeholders.

Well, if you aim for rare+magic affix, it’s very possible. I got 2 Ugdenbog daggers with 2x cold-themed prefix+suffix on both (and prefix on both is rare). Too bad they seem to have low item level (~50 base damage, and ~260 cold damage increase), even despite i got them with lvl100 character and in Gladiator difficulty… If they had 90+ Ilvl, they would be very close to BiS…
But double-rare is just a “no way”.

Not sure about ALL those builds, but for most, it’s true. In my own build, i dont even try to propagate double-rare items. They arent even needed in my build, to be honest. The only rare item i use is ring, and for it, magic suffix “of Attack” is BiS anyway.

That dagger would be BiS if he roll CDR prefix and Shattering affix. If I don’t miss anything the chanses are 1/20k .

I got a Kilrian Conflagration + Alacrity mace from Crucible although one out of how many runs and finally something that is somewhat useful and its still not Fury or Fervor etc.

But it is still not impossible to get least 1 amazingly rolled one out of hundreds of hours and runs done farming…
But double rare weapons with right affixes? Most likely not legit.

That’s from normal drops, probably. In crucible, chances are quite different, as you get far higher chances for “expensive” mods (the ones that make item cost more iron bits to vendor), and it depends on number of waves cleared, etc.

Hey, that’s a good old cadence witchblade  I used to play it a lot back in the days. Jajaja’s version from [1.0.0.4] has more than 600k views now. However he hasn’t bothered updating it.
I wasn’t bothered to check how it is doing now, I believed it would be too slow. I was very wrong!
Very impressed in your version, 31 min without blessings is a great result on its own and you have mainly defensive devotions! Moreover, you have that gloves with markovian’s shield, which allow to use overguard’s transmuter without loosing damage practically. I’ve seen it in another build, it works wonders.
I would max Blitz btw, it’s too good of a skill to pass.
I’ll check your build soon, it will probably end up in the main list.

You’re welcome!

  1. Builds 1, 13, 15, 16 in casters section don’t need MI’s at all. Many others can be made without them or with an MI with a single good affix
  2. Tons of MI drop in gladiator crucible, try it.
  3. Some build need them badly, some don’t. If you’re interested in a particular build write private message to the author and ask.

What can I say in general about MI? It’s plain bad gamedesign - to make them that rare and even more worse gamedesign is not giving some legendaries and sets enough resistances so we could forget that MI like a bad dream.

After 200 Laria+Jaxia kills and not getting even once the right affix I give up and used Crescent moon>_>

Well, yes, I’m doing a CDR PB cold Spellbreacker and I need 3 MI to cover up resistances/health and boost skills to right level. The build would be impossible without them because all other slots are occupied and cannot be chaged >_>

Yes, for most builds it’s true. As Ptirodaktill said: “You can always replace amy/medal slot with res-heavy placeholders”.
But to be 100% sure you’d better contact the author of the particular build through private message and ask him.

I don’t really have the gear for it right now. I’m in an awkward position where I’m 100 with a build that only really works with a few more specific legendaries than I have. (It’s the 2H Burn Commando on your list, actually.) So I’m not powerful enough to farm crucible with any reliability, but I’m also out of one-shot chests. So I’ve just been farming Log and making the Krieg set MI runs.

Absolutely agreed. I’d love to see them add a character that can transfer prefixes and suffixes from one green to another with comparable levels. It would make things a lot easier. I don’t see why a legendary should be more common than a green.

Try Challenger! It’s much easier than Gladiator and it has decent loot already. And your resistances are elite level there so those aren’t problems.

Are you sure on the warlock? The sorcerer I can understand, but I thought the Warlock had pretty good survivability with Wendigo’s Mark on Bloody Pox, Dryad on CoF (resulting in functionally 100% uptime) Giant’s Blood, and Blood of Dreeg with Eroctes and Chaos Strike being circuit breakers. Maiven’s I can understand as my reasoning for not maxing them is in retrospect a little silly. I thought the energy cost would be a bit too much, but if I can hold a supercapped AAR for long enough to win pretty much any fight (and anything tough enough to survive long enough for it to make a difference is gonna get kited, anyway), then a maxed Maiven’s is not going to make a difference. I’ll admit it’s biggest problem is those greens on the chest and legs.

I have been told by a friend that inquisitor would be a better match for AAR Arcanist than Demo, though.

Basically yes, your Warlock isn’t strong enough. You lack the defenses to be able to stand in a spot and channel your AAR effectively. Whether your AAR is potent or not is irrelevant if you can’t stand and channel it properly
Unlike Obliteration, FoI or DE, AAR lacks innate Piercing, Fumble chances or ADCtH which is why defensively it’s inferior to them.
Not to imply AAR can’t clear Crucible, Ptirodaktill’s Spellbinder is proof AAR can indeed beat Glad Crucible but I suspect it’d be a major PITA to pilot such a build

And both Sorcerer and Mage Hunter are good for Aether/Lightning/Fire based AAR

Yeah, pretty sure. The best way to find out is to try it yourself, after all I’m making conclusions without actually playing your build. I just compared it with other builds and the requirements for end-game content.
Warlock is definitely stronger, if you max out mirror and maiven’s, raise your DA somehow and get at least 60% stun res it could work in ultimate campaign. But gladiator crucible still won’t be viable.
The main thing in game is to have fun, if you want to play your own build go for it. You can always start a new build after all.

For me his AAR was much easier than any build in the honorable mentions section so it made it into the main list. Though I am now used to playing glass cannons and I understand that for most players it would really be PITA. So I wrote a warning in the description. Still, I think an experinced player will enjoy it, it’s unique after all!

I got utterly demolished on wave 110. Iron Maiden wrecked me even while I was running away and chugging potions. I think I have to stick with the ultimate runs I’ve been doing until I get more than 1 legendary I need (despite having literal pages of legendaries, the ones I want aren’t dropping. I swear I have 4 Mythical Mindwarps.)

Those Krieg runs should do you good then. Also, Maiden really ruins a fire build in crucible, especially incomplete ones like yours. The next one I’d recommend for Legendary runs is Lokarr.

Excuse me, a tiny bit of help please: I can’t find the build I think I am looking for, I thought I saw it here, maybe I am wrong. I could have sworn it was a melee-based S&B build involving high facetank and attack with only 3-4 buttons assigned.

Basically, I am looking for a solid beginner-friendly laid-back build, any recommendations? I do NOT want max clear speed, I am looking primarily for reliability and ease-of-play (I can NOT push 10 buttons all the time, I am too old for that) and without relying on perfect gear. I could have sworn I saw here a build like that with a screenshot of a bosskill with a hotkey bar almost empty, basically just facetank and attack, was it taken down because not crucible++ viable?

Iron Maiden deals heavy physical damage. High armor helps a lot, at least make sure you have 100% armor absorbtion (scaled hide component helps). Physical res also helps against her, so as any shield.

I didn’t remove any builds.
What you seek is build 15 in melee section - cadence witchblade. Very easy, reliable, beginner friendly, easy to level, few buttons, top tier, does not need super rare green items. Nuff said.
